as for the OP. pick what works and what you like. i just tried to show you something that COULD happen. you should always check your gear reguardless of how indistructable people say it is. i still check over my serpas or my galco kingtuk holsters and i always clean my guns like its a religon. its something i picked up from the military. i use my stuff and if it breaks i know how to fix it or i replace it.

Look, I've heard of cases where the hard plastic Surpa could cause, has cased an accedental firing. something to do with the release button on the side. I don't think it would effect a revolver the same unless it was cocked, and for all I know the gun used was cocked.

No, the problem is drawing with the finger curled in on the button, sliding into the trigger well, and pulling the trigger. The gun was a 1911, but a revolver would shoot your leg just as hard.

Many consider this a major criticism of the Serpa (or maybe it's Usurpa')?. I myself never found it a huge worry, but then I draw a lot.

I find the likelihood if it breaking and dispossessing you of your firearm far more worrisome.

you can get something thats like a galco kingtuk holster. its the best of both worlds. i hate leather. you have to spend time to break them in and you cant reholster with one hand cause your belt will collapse your holster (thats if you are IWB) they maybe not break but they can eventually wear out. that can be bad cause i have seen that happen and it resulted in a ND because the holster ended up folding into the trigger wich caused it to fire.(he was carrying IWB) and it was a one of them galco summer comfort holsters. my serpa has never broke and im constantly trainning with it. same with my galco kingtuk. whatever you get always inspect your gear before use to make sure nothings out of wack.

Complete BS IMO. The only way leather folds is if it is folded. It actually resists folding, and lets not forget on the glock the how the trigger is designed. It can't fire the weapon unless BOTH parts of the trigger are actuated. Like most ND people the owner of the gun refuses to admit he pulled the trigger. I have worked with leather and holsters for 40 years, and I can attest the claim is a lie. Though he may have convinced himself otherwise to avoid embarrassment.

Heavy weight veg tanned wet molded leather does not lose it's shape when worn in the waistband. And some manufacturers put a double layer to make sure. Take note that during the medieval age veg tanned leather was used for armor.

The story is fairly well known, it was a Galco JAK202 belt slide holster that had exceeded its useful lifespan where the unreinforced interior leather piece had softened. (Courtesy of ITS Tactical.com

Indeed. And don't forget that cop who somehow let his keys get in his trigger guard and shot himself. That was a kydex holster too, I'm pretty sure (not that it makes any difference in that case). Definitely a Glock.

This is the #1 reason I like manual safeties for an EDC gun: many ADs where the user shoots himself occur during reholstering. And those always occur with Glocks or revolvers.

I've heard all the arguments, so I'm not trying to start the same old "safety war". That's just my assessment. (I'm so used to flipping off the thumb safety in the latter stages of a draw that I try to do it with my XD, which doesn't even have a thumb safety.)

Marshaul to not derail this thread any further I started a thread on this in the social lounge.

At a guess; you didn't follow the link that I linked to before posting your link, otherwise you would have seen that your link was the same link that I linked to.

Though I have almost 10 holsters for my Glocks, +1 on the Blackhawk Serpa. It's low-profile, and very easy to use. Never had a problem with any of mine.
