If you got it ,,, flaunt it!

[BEGIN RANT]
It's funny, when you guys posted these pictures in 2011 after the 2A rally in Olympia, I criticized you for "flaunting" it. After the recent 2A events, I feel the complete opposite. I used to believe the spirit of the 2A meant that people could own a rifle or sidearm. Now I want a tank in my driveway and a nuclear sub down at the dock. When the Bill of Rights was drafted, the "People" could get together and forcibly remove the Government if they were not happy with it. The technology of the time was pretty much equal for the People and the State....musket to musket basically. That's not true in today's world. Why? The People should still be able to throw the Government out whenever we decide to. If the Government has F-22 Raptors, and the People have an ARs, how do we do it? The 2A exists to provide the People a relief to tyranny. People just don't get it anymore. If you're a gun owner and you say something negative about the Government, you're viewed as a psychotic conspiracy theorist. When did the People forget that our elected officials are OUR employees, not vice versa....and why don't we care? What would the Founding Father's think?

So, what do you do when they come house to house for your weapons? "Pry it from your cold dead fingers"....."give them the bullets first"....really? I've thought about it, I won't register my weapons, nor will I allow them to be seized. Some of us still believe in the 2nd, 4th, and 5th amendments, but are we literally willing to die for them? For myself, I don't know. I think about my 13yo daughter and wonder if it's better to die for what I believe in and leave her without a father, or become one of the herd and give up my rights. I don't know. I personally don't think it will come to that, but given the recent events, it's making me re-think some of my beliefs. [END RANT]

I think I'll bring the mini14 that I won.
I haven't replaced the stock with a tactical one yet and after sandy hook the one I wanted on amazon is no longer available due to knee jerk reactions. I think banning modern ergonomics is absolutely ridiculous and that's what I'm going to protest. How is a pistol grip and a light rail going to make my gun more deadly?

OK how is it better to show up at a gun store, gun show etc on gun appreciation day than to show up at the Capitol Building. I know it is much more comfortable and a lot more fun to show up at a gun store and preach to the choir. It great to pat each other on the back a say gee look at what we are doing but no one sees that except for the other pro gun people. What we need desperately IMHO is a public showing to let the people that are sitting in the fence know there are real people, neighbors, friend that support gun rights. The people at the gun store are already with us.

If the Gays had stayed in their bars and patted each other on the back they would not have made the progress they have made. We need to do exactly what they did get out there in the public eye and fight for our rights.

OK rant over

THIS!! I think regardless, two trips to the Capitol isn't a bad idea. If the legislature will be in session it will be good to make ourselves known. Much like Orphan said, we will not make any headway if we just talk amongst ourselves. Personally, I would like to look like a professional, avoid signs and slogans, and take the chance to possibly engage people in Olympia with some dialogue.

But honest question - is the Capitol trip the 19th or Feb 8th? Or both?

Besides, we can always go to Cabela's after we are done!

Thanks SVG I know we stand together, now I am going to convince 10 people on the fence or on the anti side of things to stand with us.

I have never cared much for the Alamo, Custer's last stand etc, never glorified that sort of thing but I have identified with Patton, Puller, Sherman, Pershing etc. Now is the time to act like them and others and win this fight. Fights have never won by those that sit on the couch watching the fight. I like to win and win we will.

I will quote Sam Adams

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. - Samuel Adams, 1776

Stand up now or sit down forever and enjoy your chains.

Port Orchard,
I am just thinking that going to the capital on Saturday the 19th, will be completely ineffective. The legislature is not in session on a Saturday, there will not be other gun groups in attendance (NRA, GOA, WAguns, etc...)

http://gunappreciationday.com/

My State Rep said she would be there. Although she didn't say as which hat she would be wearing, citizen or Rep.

That is true, Many of my friends are gay. I may just be a lib-tard with a gun but there are a lot of pages to be taken from the LGBT movement. we need to have the same conviction that what we are doing is our right, and that we are NOT hurting ANYONE.

+1+1 looking forward to shaking your hand sir.

All wars are civil, because all men are brothers

has anyone else seen the buy back in seattle? am I the only one who sees this as taking advantage I mean only 100 for a handgun and 200 for "assault weapon" it just sounds backwards. I feel sorry for the poor saps that go for it. even if I was anti Id be saying to myself "100 for my USP and 200 for my 2rnd 'assault .22' just sounds like im getting bent over here, by people who dont know what they are talking about"

If the antis are going to do things like this and rip off the anti/fence sitting public just to destroy a few guns, we need to be willing to present our selves and do our best to Educate the public to show how backwards all of this is.

and remove armed guards from all schools in the seattle area? WHAT!?!?!?! so next time some wacko looses it and decides to disregard the law he will do so with the confidence that he has no opposition until the cops arrive 2 minutes too late.

kinda like

"we are at risk for a hurricane here? BUILD IT OUT OF GLASS!!!"

Please do

I have always rejected the idea of bringing a long gun to these events but I am planning on carrying one, slung, bolt open, to this event.

organizers have spoken with LEA at capital and they ask that the bolt be open on all long guns... given that, there is no reason not to ensure you have a full magazine..

Ok, I am a bit confused. January 19th is billed as gun appreciation day. Go to a gun show, store, shooting range etc. http://www.examiner.com/article/gun...an-19-as-gun-appreciation-day?cid=db_articles

February 8th is billed as a march on all 50 state capitals, as a national movement.

https://www.facebook.com/events/406312512782872/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThgC5mSrfqg

two marches are planned- PLEASE attend both...
http://www.facebook.com/events/144639815690301/
do you remember when the had the black and white marches for immigration back in 2006/2007? LOTS of people turned out in Seattle... I would like to see the same here just without the professional organization...
