LRT slaying brings call for 'carry' laws
By Mike Cummings, Edmonton Journal May 26, 2010
Re: "Woman's murder rattles LRT riders; Transit officials call shooting 'random incident," The Journal, May 23.
How many more people will die before we act on our mistakes?
It has been suggested by some that we hire armed LRT guards. This won't solve the problem -- criminals will simply wait outside the LRT stations to commit their muggings and murders.
We need is to stop cowering, and give people the right to carry arms. Every state in the U. S that has concealed and open carry laws has seen its crime rate drop.
I'm not saying let's give a gun to every man woman and child; but at least make it possible for someone who is already licensed, has the proper training, and has to deal with dangerous urban environments the chance to be granted a carry permit.
