No discharge is a problem. That means that you can't claim to be sport shooting. That means open carry, except by you, is technical illegal. In practice this happens all the time and will probably not be a problem, but if we are going to make it a fundraiser with politicians there, it has to be 100% legal.

As for the Bastrop county regulation, do you live in a platted subdivision in unincorporated Bastrop County? If it isn't a platted subdivision, they CANNOT regulate the discharge of firearms.

Here's the exact language from the statute:

TEX LG. CODE ANN. § 235.021 : Texas Statutes - Section 235.021: SUBDIVISIONS COVERED BY SUBCHAPTER
This subchapter applies only to a subdivision all or a part of which is located in the unincorporated area of a county and for which a plat is required to be prepared and filed under Chapter 232.

Added by Acts 1989, 71st Leg., ch. 1, Sec. 55(a), eff. Aug. 28, 1989. Renumbered from Sec. 240.021 by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1420, Sec. 12.003(9), eff. Sept. 1, 2001.

TEX LG. CODE ANN. § 235.022 : Texas Statutes - Section 235.022: AUTHORITY TO REGULATE
To promote the public safety, the commissioners court of a county by order may prohibit or otherwise regulate the discharge of firearms on lots that are 10 acres or smaller and are located in the unincorporated area of the county in a subdivision.

Added by Acts 1989, 71st Leg., ch. 1, Sec. 55(a), eff. Aug. 28, 1989. Renumbered from Sec. 240.022 by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1420, Sec. 12.003(9), eff. Sept. 1, 2001.

Well, it is a platted subdivision. I was thinking this could be a weapons teardown and cleaning siminar. That's why I decided to have the table for disassembly and cleaning. There will be a table set up for long guns as well.

My lawyer says that would PROBABLY pass, but it depends on what kind of officer we get if the sheriff's office is called.

Another note, I ama littlesecluded and where everyone will be millling is not easily seen by passers by and only a couple neighbors, none of which is the nosy type. I do shoot here quite often, but if it goes on like a couple hours straight, somebody may get nervous and call the law. I've never had that happen though.

EDIT: I do have get togethers here from time to time so everybody will probablythink that it's just another one of those regular ones.
