On my windows PC, I keep getting blocked traffic. Pretty much says nothing useful in the description, but I've only seen it on these forums, and usually about once a week.

My linux PC, I could care less what happens to, especially since that same windows PC, 802.11A doesn't even work on the atheros card, only in linux. Wish I knew more about Windows, maybe I'd have the heart to fix it.

Lol windows. I remember when I used to have all those issues with malware, spyware, virus programs, trojans and blue screens of death. I recommend getting a mac and if you can't afford one build a machine and put OSX on it. (called a hackintosh) Or just run Ubuntu as your OS. Seriously it is night and day.

I'm just irritated I have to use the wired connection on my windows PC. 5GHZ works fine on mo bootable fedora CD, but when I reboot to windows, it only sees 2.4GHZ networks. I'd use the 2.4GHZ, but it makes my X41s all noisy sounding.

Yep virus got past Kaspersky and toasted my hard drive. Not cool. The owner needs to vet his adverts better or do it all in house to avoid it altogether.

I play on a number of vBulletin sites and none are so problematic as OCDO has become in the last few days.

There is another vBulletin open in another tab and my error console in another window. The messages, warnings and errors accumulate rapidly with each mouse click on the OCDO page, while none from the other tab.

The vast bulk of messages are from ClearClick protection.

That IP traces back to Amsterdam. Don't think there are German advertisers here. I couldn't find anything on this site that connects to that IP address. Google that IP address and you find a lot of other people. None that I can tell are from this site. http://ip-address-lookup-v4.com/ip/178.18.243.189

This is definitely an 8th layer of the OSI issue not an issue with this forum.

Yeah, next time I run into it, I'll look through my browser cache to see if I can find anything. Right now it is set up to clear the cache/cookies when closed.

Here are some common ways an infection can redirect your web traffic to their infection. First is your host file. This is a local file that can translate google.com to go to a specific ip address of another server. Always fun to drive a friend crazy.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034

Second way is to use a proxy server. This sends all your internet traffic through another persons server so they can spy on what you are doing. This is very common for users who all of a sudden can browse the internet.

Most Malicious Software Removal programs do not change these two things back to default. Because of that many users keep reinfecting themselves rather than fix their problems. Also make sure when you do your scans that you do a complete scan. Optimized scans don't look everywhere and are common to miss things.

Not from OCDO/WI

As I mentioned I have been keeping my error console open in order to watch what is going on. Just now I watched an error message stream by, generated by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "Insert tracking pixel not defined." Zero dimension tracking pixels are the most insidious of abuses.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracking_pixel

I have known about them and even messed with them using my photo editing GIMP, but I have never seen a site try to deploy one.

You could also try messing with Peerblock, normally for people who do p2p stuff and want to remain more hidden, but you can configure it to block things from accessing your PC and subsequently also block things from sending information from your PC out to the net.

One of the default block lists is for educational/news systems from getting access, might help with that particular issue.
