At issue is not the reasonability of wearing Oakleys and 511 tactical underwear. The violation of our rights to be secure in our homes at the hands of the corrupt agents of an out of control government is.

This is what relaxing our grip on our rights has given us:

Remember, the Siege at Waco was the result of a no knock warrant by those "just following orders".

Actually... the issue was that flashbangs aren't used nearly as much as being portrayed. That was the issue. A poster made the contention about "truckloads of flashbangs in rural areas". I asked if he had something to back up the assertion he disappeared.

A side conversation popped up about clothing being worn. I made the attempt to clarify that officers arent usually "ninja clad" while doing warrants. For example the article that was posted about the MA officer that got shot. No flash bangs nor "ninja" officers. Plain clothes guys serving a search warrant. Guy got shot through the door AFTER they yelled police. A poster made a good point about maybe they SHOULD wear identifying clothing. Good train of thought there.

There are ALOT of misconceptions thrown around.

Its what happens when you are anti something. Anti guns misconstrue numbers and photos and incidents to show guns are bad.

Anti capitalists misconstrue numbers to show how bad free market is and destroys the poor.

Anti government misconstrue numbers and incidents to show how bad government.

Ant police misconstrue numbers incidents to show how bad they are.

See the trend?

Some may say they aren't anti anything they are pro something else. The difference is when you are pro something then you will gladly accept corrections or facts or opinions about the other side. When you are anti something you will always fight to show how bad the other side is. One side has malice while the other doesn't.

Pro freedom guys want to be left alone and be on their way. Anti police/gov want to actively fight to show you how bad horrible they are.

Pro gun control want society to be safe by regulating guns. Anti gun guys actively go out to show you how evil all guns are and the people who use them are dangerous.

Pro life want regulations dictating WHEN abortion can be done. Anti abortion want no abortion at all and will go to no end to show the horror stories and bad things that happen.

I hope the more stable and sensible on this forum see my point.

Reasonable folks, as I think you are referring to them, desire to control the citizenry via the government. Pro gun control folks have zero interest in a enumerated right. No-knock warrants are a affront to liberty and the constitution.

I see the point, but I don't think that the numbers in this thread are really being skewed to paint a false picture... I don't know that the numbers even end up being that important as to what a person's stance on the issue should be... It is a problem not just that too many bad raids/no-knock warrants/flash bangs are happening, but that any are happening. One is enough to get angry about, any violation of anyone's rights... You don't have to wait for it to become a "big" problem or happen regularly to get angry about it... So I don't think that exactly how often it happens should make that much difference on a person's stance on it... So I don't see what the point would be in skewing the numbers on it. IMO if someone changes their stance just because it happened 6 times instead of 5 in a one month period, or whatever, then they aren't look at it from the right perspective to begin with.

I can respect that. Well said

Idiots!

Police who participate in these raids for non violent offenses lacking exigent circumstances are IDIOTS! They violated their civil rights by disabling cameras, they should be prosecuted under federal law, and then imprisoned. Jail time is the only way to put a stop to these abuses. I have contacted my reps and states attorneys on a constant basis to achieve officers arrests for this scat. Every liberty minded citizen across the country should be putting pressure on public officials to bring these criminals to justice. Not only do they taint the image of police, violate and terrorize the citizens, but they put their own lives in danger. IDIOTS!

I just love how the story goes on the say that the Ankeny PD does not have a written policy in place on how it's officers are supposed to conduct these types of warrant executions. Or in others words...do whatever the hell you want guys, just don't get caught.... :(

Unaccountability is probably built into their union contract. If there are no ROE, it's hard to break them. Further, whatever they do.....defile a child, kill an elderly, steal / seize money....it can all be determined to "fall within their training". Easy peasy.

Since the home was in Des Moines, but it was from the Ankery (sp) town, would you not expect the D/M Police Chief to have some input on what they neighboring town yahoos were doing in his jurisdiction? Like - guys - you're going to do a SWAT warrant on a house for credit card fraud?

So after terrorizing the middle-aged mother, coming close to killing her son in the bathroom who figured out it was the cops and and he had reholstered his gun, they didn't find ANYTHING they were looking for? But they did pinch a girl with a parole issue and a guy with some dope?

These cops must have been watching re-runs of 'how the ATF took down a) David Koresh and b) Ruby Ridge', and for those that lived, they all got promotions.

I think most of America has forgotten Ruby Ridge.

I presented a simple scenario. Nothing fancy. Nothing high tech. And they way it was blown out of proportion....

I say "C-A-T spells CAT!" and five trillion posts later everything in God's kingdom including but limited to the discussion of feline genetics to the moral and ethical operation of a Nevada Brothel to the invention and development of the Caterpillar Bulldozer is brought up and discussed...but NOT the reasoning behind the lesson in WHY C-A-T spells CAT.

To me the fact there was no uproar by the local yokels shows they are complicit in this "isolated incident".
