Where Is The NRA?

I am very well aware that the entire deal was over the lawful carrying of a gun on his property and that was the reson that he was charged. However if you go into court trying to defend your right to carry a gun both the prosecuter and judge are going to point out that he was not charged with anything involving a gun but with his conduct. If the LEO admit that the only misconduct was that he refused to put his gun away then it is a clear case but they will have much more evidential testimony even if it is false. It would be like trying to defend yourself against anot having a drivers license charge when you were actually charged for speeding.

If someone is approached by a LEO and asked to see thier gun, rather than refusing they take a swing at the officer should the NRA get involved in defending them? This is the technicality I was pointing out. We all think or know that the charge is trumped up due to the gun but how about in the case where the guy takes a swing at the officer and is charged with assault. Just because it started with a gun does not mean it was only the gun involved.

They gave in on GCA of 1968, 1986, 1989 and AWB of 1994, did I forget the NFA of 1936? This is a hunting and trap shooting club, if you want help with open carry, look elsewhere.
The guy was on his own property, planting a tree. If you can't carry a gun on your own property and not use it, how do you expect to go hunting and actually be able to use it, especially if you're not on property you own???
Pointman, I agree with your stance 100%, I just feel help is not on the way from above mentioned organization.

On Sunday, April 19, NRA's executive vice president Wayne LaPierre appeared on CBS' Face the Nation. Wayne stressed that enforcing existing laws was the answer to curbing gun crime, and not enacting failed methods such as renewing the Clinton semi-automatic gun ban proposed by gun control advocates like Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.

So is this worth $35 a year?

Can you say "lip- service"

When a real "black rifle" issue comes along the NRA finds some rock to hide under.

Anyone can go on TV and talk about your rights, in case youhaven't notice politicians do it all the time.
