I'm an FFL Dealer and in 28 years I've never had a weapon with a fake full auto setting on it OEM. I have had weapons come through with fake suppressors on them, but they had markings or tags that indicated such, and were not presented as though they were real.

I've also never seen an auto company put a fake turbo charger indicator on a vehicle, either.

My point is, things like this are usually aftermarket add ons, not original equipment.

Regardless of the whys or wherefores, it has generated a lot of free publicity for them - you can't beat the value of that.

I don't see any evil intent. In fact, they may well be pointing out the absurdity of the class III limitation.
