Ok...

Panera on Sunday. Do the Triad guys want to go to Greenville or eat at the High Point location? I'm down for either. I haven't been able to make it to any of the dinner meets so I'm looking forward to getting together somewhere this weekend.

I vote for you guys to come to Greenville, but I'm slightly biased :banana:

That's a pretty good letter, but I think that w need to remember the sort of people we're dealing with.

When a business does not have an official position of banning firearms, but some petty power-tripping manager decides to ban guns in "his" store, quoting the law, or tradition, or history won't sway them. They are not interested in facts. They are only interested in control, and are driven by emotion and irrational fear.

Talk about Susanne Huff and the Luby's incident. Talk about your family. Talk about holding them legally responsible for not providing for your "safety". Talk about your local police department response times. Talk about how the VAST majority of businesses that routinely get robbed at gun point are "gun free zones", and list some recent examples in your area.

These people don't want to hear facts, and don't want to be confused by the truth. They are power-hungry petty tyrants, and are operating purely on emotion and irrational fear. If we appeal to some fear that is greater than their fear of armed law-abiding citizens (like being SUED if something happens and they don't provide for your safety), they WILL listen to that. They need to know that they will be blackballed by a NATIONAL group with over 20,000 members. They need to know that we understand that they are more concerned with the "appearance" of safety than they are with actual valuing the safety and security of their patrons, and we are perfectly willing and able to "out" them for that...

I'm telling you people, we need to stop being so dainty with this issue, and we need to start acting like real "activists"...

VERY well said!

When everyone was saying "High Point" I thought yall meant High Point, NC (in the triad).

I'm interested in going but definitely would want to carpool.

Who do I need to message???

OK, since "elixin77" and I were the only ones who showed up in Greenville today, we assume you guys decided to go to High Point, or somewhere else. So how did your OC Lunch go? We had a nice lunch (weather was so nice we ate outside), had no issues, and talked about the forum, and some of the current issues in NC.

Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon...

We hope all the other folks who were talking about getting together had an equally uneventful time!

today a cop was at the store and told the manager he had no right to harass me unless it was posted. other than that it was uneventful.

Yeah we did, Racer, JP, And I ate at Golden Wok in greensboro.

We had a good lunch, no encounter or funny looks.

Shoot - had I known that you guys were going to dine locally I would have joined you. I didn't respond earlier b/c I was under the impression that y'all were going to carpool to Greenville, which wouldn't have worked out for me.

don't beat yourself up over this too hard. our get-together was extremely impromptu.

Dreamer and I kind of figured that you guys would have gone to the locale store. Hope you guys had an enjoyable lunch!

I was thinking about you as I was driving there. I knew you had been there before. We didn't make plans until about 30 minutes before we met up. We'll try and give a little better notice next time. It was a good lunch and being Sunday afternoon it was pretty crowded.

I just got a gift card to Panera, I live in High Point and go to the Penny Road location frequently, OC'ing my full size XDM all the time.

Maybe it's time I visit with my 6" stainless GP-100, I've got a Fobus holster for it and I OC it from time to time. Anyone want to go with me?

Depends on the sheriff. Wayne & Johnston counties the application says 21 years of age.

Why change your carry piece just to visit Panera? I'd stick with the XDM.

I wouldn't consider it "changing," like I said I carry my GP-100 from time to time when the mood strikes me. I have no problems with carrying a wheel gun, and feel just as confident in my ability to handle myself with either 6 rounds of .357 or 19 rounds of 9mm. Perhaps more so with the revolver, because I know how much better I can shoot it.

Either way, the point was just that the revolver is a bit less understated than my solid black XDM. Panera is one of few places I haven't been with it.
