Here's an interesting nugget. 86% of the population can be identified by knowing only their: Gender, Date of birth, Zip code.

So if Leo229 can extract my DOB from me, make a reasonbly educated guess that I'm probably in the same zip that I live in, and if he can determine my gender without resorting to a Crocodile Dundee styled crotch grab, he can have a pretty good idea of who I am. Throw in a few neighboring zips for good measure, and he should have my mug shot on his terminal in a few mins.
Something we should know??? :D

That's assuming you are near your home zip. I rarely am.
and
assuming you give your proper DOB.
That's a lot of assumption!

True. True. But it is an interesting statistic to me. 86% is pretty accurate.

Ah.. we don't have to guess Burrito or Taco do we Peter ?

It's a skewed statistic Doug. The technology isn't near that good and never will be until we start letting them shove chips up our backsides.

Good street cops can just about read minds.

For instance, 229 comes up to me and says "do you have ID"
Nope!

So then he goes into action. " With a steady glare he says" Where do I know you from"?
Now most criminals go into a cold sweat and slip up....Maybe lockup.

But if he says "It was the Gender Bender Bar and Grill in DC. You were wearing a white dress and matching heels. I remember because I said to myself...how tacky..white before Easter. Nice chatting with you, toodles!!"
:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

They don't involve a rubber hose and a damp rag do they? The first thing I thought when I read that was Jack Bauer trying to get someones real name the old fasioned way. :uhoh:

Last few times I refused to ID myself, I got arrested (go figure).

But I have no problem with ID'ing myself as long as the LEO is polite and professional about it. I have no problem being an ass if a LEO decides to get rude or tries to bring up trash charges for not talking.

The careful observer will also notice I go around with a big white square pasted over my face. That way the LEO's can never make a positive ID ! I just keep mumbling " I'm Danbus, and I don't consent to any search".

I'm having some trouble finding it online now but if my memory is correct (and this was a few years ago), they passed an ordinance that required someone to produce id if asked by RPD. I'll keep looking for it.
I spent some time on Municode and could find nothing about a stop and Identify law in Richmond.

what the hell is RPD?
