that's why I said "supposedly", because I haven't found a credible source yet either.
Itmay betrue that the Founders looked to Sw. for a militia model, but not for a form of government. The irony is that the US was, for a while at least, a freer place than Sw. in terms of personal liberty and property rights, even though our attempts to establish a militia system pretty much failed and, after WWII, were replaced by a standing army, which "conservatives" love but the founders despised.


and it was the military model to which I was referring. Make no mistake, the "great experiment", while modeled after Roman and Greek ideals, was a new creature unto itself.
