Stillwater Firearms Steel Shoot Match

I was at the range shooting and when I was finished my son and I walked down to the steel shooting match for revolvers only. Larry and I along with some others went to breakfast earlier that morning so we knew he was shooting and wanted to watch the master shoot. Then the question popped up. Hey Jim, yes, do you want to shoot? I haven't shot a revolver since I was about 15yrs old Larry (who is the Northwest Director of Nevada Firearms Coalition-of which I am a member), so what Larry says, it will be fun. So they asked some members/range officer etc. and they let me shoot in my first steel match. I was placed two rounds down and since I was just coming into the match of those two rounds they were counted as losses. No biggie, I was VERY nervous and just wanted to try it out.

So it was $15 bucks to enter and I only had $10 bucks. Here is my out, but not according to Larry, he slaps a 5 on the table and I'm in.

I will never forget this day and the generosity from Larry and others.

The first video, I did as Larry said and pulled the trigger easy and let the cylinder rotate to the next then paused, the pulled to shoot it well. The next two I got nervous and well, if you have shot in a match, just remember your first time/also in front of most everyone who you don't know. But after today, I find these are fine folks and can't wait to buy a revolver. I told Larry it will take some time, but I liked it.

Thanks,
Jim

And James placed second in C Class!

Am so glad you came out - and shot. (I think we got you hooked!)

More match pics here: http://www.stillwaterfirearms.org/phpnuke/modules.php?name=coppermine

We frequently hear things like, "I like to shoot, but I've never competed." Well, thats the beauty of these matches - there is a place for everyone to compete, Grand Master, Master, A, B, and C classes.

The hardest part is attacting a shooter for the first time. But once they see how much fun it is, they'll usually come back again. I think its the most friendly and helpful bunch of people you can find. And, like our DA says, "This is the kind of people I want to be around!"

Thanks again. Hope you can come out to shoot the steel match next weekend. Flyer here: http://www.stillwaterfirearms.org/Docs/Matches/SFA_SteelMatch_2012MAR31_APR01.pdf

My son and I plan on shooting next Saturday. I will bring my new Glock 19 Gen4 series the kids bought me for my 50th birthday and see if I need to sell it and buy your revolver :shocker:

I liked your red front fiber sight, I'll see how the white Glock front dot does.

Thanks again for everything,
Jim
