Great post polynikes.

Funny how a big box store like Gander Mountain can get it right (allowing lawful carry in any form) but a local business can't. If they are worried about safety why not have the signs read that carry guns must remain holstered at all times?

Wrong, CCW. Why cant people read??? Call them up if you cant seem to understand. Jeez

Perhaps before you accuse people of not being able to read, you should do so yourself. The pictures of the signs that have been posted here clearly read that ALL firearms are to be cased, and they don't exclude CCW from that anywhere on the signs. Additionally, there are experiences that people have posted here that specifically state that someone at BC told them or someone around them that they could not carry concealed either. There is also a post explaining that the signs USED TO READ (that would be past tense - as in they no longer read that way) all firearms must be cased or holstered, but that now you can see where the or holstered part has been removed.

Two great things about this country are that businesses can set policies like this on their private property, and as consumers we can choose what businesses we will spend our money at. It would appear that some of us here have stated that we will we will choose to not spend our money there because of the policy they have. Whether or not you feel the policy doesn't apply to CCW will not change that, as even if it is not intended to apply to CCW, people have obviously been told it does. Perhaps if the policy doesn't apply to CCW, management should clear that up with both their signage and employees. That might change the minds of some people, but keep in mind that this is an open carry forum and people are here because they believe in their right to do so.

Iluvguns, it appears that you became a member of the site after this thread was started, and every post you have made is in thread defending the policy. What exactly is your relationship to BC? Are you part of ownership, an employee, or ???

I couldn't agree more. The people that come in to rob a gun store/ range won't be carrying in a holster. Most likely, they will have whatever firearm they have out and aimed at someone as soon as they walk through the door. Kind of a "you keep yours holstered, we'll keep ours holstered" policy.

Go back and read what I've posted. I'm a customer of BC since they opened. I will defend them since they defended our country overseas. It's a privlage to support them who I might add are more safety and health concious than other indoor ranges.

Couple things.

1) I missed where you stated you were only a customer of theirs. Thank you for clarifying.

2) How exactly did they defend our country?

3) How are they more safety conscious than other ranges?

1.) I am a customer (only stated in my last post). I simply said read my other posts to refer to other answers.

2.) SEAL's don't serve our country??

3.) They are safer because they have POLICIES and actually care about shooters. Which thank god because I guess that keeps the negligent OCer's OUT!!!

Is that better?

lol. Good for them, I served too. In fact a lot of people on here have served.

How are OC'ers negligent? Are you implying that OC'ing means the person is not safe? That's funny because I've been OC'ing for years and never had an accident or ND. I've OC'd in stores, restaurants, movie theaters, parks, malls etc.. Nothing you've said leads any of us to believe that their policies make anyone safer or that they "care" about their customers. If you mean their policy makes customers safer due to the fact that if no one OC's they won't have to draw down on anyone then okay.

Anyway, I wish you and BluCore the best. I'm done with this. If they change their policy to allow carry in any form maybe I'll stop by. Until then their just one less place on my to do list.

1) Thank you for clearing that up. I know that there are many customers of theirs that are not as happy with them as you are from talking to people that I know. You have every right to voice your support for them if you are as satisfied as you seem to be.

2) I appreciate what they have done for our country, as I appreciate what anybody that has served has done for our country. By doing so, they have defended the rights that all of us have, including their right to set whatever policies they want on their private property (within legal limits of course), but also the right of those of us to choose whether or not we wish to patronize their business.

3) I don't know of any ranges/gun stores that don't have any policies. Most of them however recognize the rights of their customers and ask that all firearms be secured in a case or holster at all times. If they are not comfortable with their customers carrying on the premises, they are free to make the policy that they have. If you are choose to comply with that policy and choose to spend your money there, I have no problem with it. I , as others here stated, have chosen to comply with the policy they have in place by not going there. What I don't understand is why you insist on be insulting with your comments towards those of us that won't be giving them any of our business. Most of us have stated that we will not do so as long as the policy is in place, without insulting you or them, yet you feel the need to group anyone that OC's as being negligent and not being able to read and comprehend what you have written. We read, and comprehended, that you stated the policy does not apply to CCW, however others have written (and I've been verbally told by people that I personally know) that they have been told that the policy does apply to both open carry and concealed carry. As I stated earlier, my issues with the policy are not just because they are going against the rights we have, but also because of the safety concerns I have that are created by the policy. There are documented cases where people have been held up at gun point and relieved of their firearms after leaving a firing range because thieves are willing to take the risk that they shot all of their ammo at the range and that the firearms they obviously have are now unloaded and an easy target. This policy makes the chances of any firearms that customers coming out of BluCore have with them not being loaded even higher (as it would be against their policy). Unlike you, I am not comforted by the policy as anyone that is going in with a loaded firearm with intentions of doing something illegal with it will not be deterred by the policy. I too am done with the subject, and unless they change the policy, I will continue to choose to not go there.

The solution to this entire problem is so simple, see Whistling Pine Gun Club's rule #6, which states:

Firearms may be brought into and taken out of the building only in the following manner:
• Holstered: loaded or unloaded, concealed or unconcealed. Holstered firearms may not be drawn until the club member or guest is on the firing line.
• Boxed, bagged, or otherwise completely enclosed: unloaded only.
• Unboxed, unbagged, or otherwise unenclosed firearms may not be carried in hand, loaded or unloaded, in any portion of the building. Carrying a loaded firearm in hand will result in the immediate revocation of membership.

Easy: No handling guns except on the line.

And the huge win is you're not forcing customers to jack around with their guns out in the parking lot.

O2

Added on edit: PS. I was in the retail area when someone came in carrying a rifle carefully pointed up. The WP staff immediately called him over to the counter and LOANED him a rifle case to use. None of this "we'll sell you one" stuff.

Whistling Pines and Specialty Sports most assuredly have it right.

Whistling Pines most assuredly has it right. The rule is simple and lets you get to the firing line safely, and without being "naked" for an instant.

Specialty Sports gets a thumbs up; I have walked in with slung semiauto rifles, open carry, concealed carry, you name it.

Both establishments understand the value of an armed and polite populace.

I don't know what the heck this BluCore place is... and I don't want to. To hell with them.

They must have changed, or started enforcing that recently. I was last there 5-6 months ago and I came in with my holstered firearm and used the range. Of course it was winter and they didn't see it till I took off my coat.

Yeah, that sounds like a silly policy. I never understand ranges that trust you to shoot at the range but won't let you carry into the range or store. It's as if you magically can't do any harm on the actual range, but if you carry in the store you'll kill everyone. Riddle me that one.

You nailed it.

By the way, I talked with a "Michael" at the store a few minutes ago, and he related that while they do allow customers to CC, they don't allow customers to OC. His stated reason was that "they don't know their demeanor." Essentially, I said, "so the message you're sending to the masses is that the only people in your store who're likely to be armed are the ones behind the counter? How smart is that? Gun free zones have never worked..." and proceeded to quote a few stats about how much more likely they are to having a firearms-related incidence in their GFZ store than they would if they simply respected the Constitution.

Well, since someone else dug up this old thread, I'll add my 2 cents... Shot at BluCore a month back, and liked the place, liked the lanes, liked everything about it. Was planning to buy a membership since they were very close to home, but I won't be back with their "all guns must be cased" thing. I OC'd all over town, and all sorts of stores I went into had no problem with it, but a gun store that should support the 2a doesn't? It's not like they don't have the firepower on-hand to deal with any issues.

My guess is most of the reason is to prevent stupid gun owners from waving their gun around assuming it's unloaded.... So why not just do like most other gun stores and state it must be cased or holstered. In fact at one time that was their policy. So at some point they had a clue.

Oh well.. they were the closest range to me, and a nice place, but I'll drive across town to spend my gun money. Any business that assumes their customers are idiots isn't a business I'll support.

That has been known to happen at the indoor range I use... but they don't go to this silly rule in response.

If you handle a gun ANYWHERE but at the firing line, you get expelled from the club on the spot.
