Ich klage an!

That phrase is perhaps not the best tidbit of German language to toss out on a discussion about the "tyranny of the masses", government over-reach, and fundamental human rights.

This was the name of a Nazi Eugenics propaganda film made in 1941 at the behest of Goebbels, by famed Prussian film maker Wolfgang Liebeneiner. It is about a woman with MS who wants the doctors to end her life, and they refuse, so her husband helps her commit suicide, and he is then tried for murder. The purpose of this film was to support the T-4 Euthenasia Program. This film was banned by the Allies after the war.

You really shouldn't show your hand so openly, Herr Koch...

Yeah, you are right, the Mormons didn't have anything do do with it.

Except for the estimated $8.4 MILLION that Mormons donated to the coalition to push Prop 8 through in 2008...

MODERATORS: how many clueless incorrect assertions and outright lies does a member have to make before they get banned?

I've lost count on this particular "member"...

And exit polls showed a large proportion of those voting for that proposition were black and latino; I've not really heard of black or latino Mormons, though I could be wrong. Suggesting that Mormons had any real influence is like suggesting the westboro baptist church has any effect, but being annoying and offensive.

You are right. Money has nothing to do with elections or voter influence. A massive media campaign, a tidal wave of lobbyists, and the other influence peddling that $8.4 million buys has nothing to do with the way ANY ballot issue would pan out...

Dreamer's right. I lived there at the time. It's well-established that the Mormons spent huge amounts of money to ensure the passage of prop 8.

It was notable at the time because, you know, Mormons aren't exactly a huge voting demographic in California. Nor were Mormon voters instrumental in ensuring the passage of the bill.

Are you saying Georgia won't recognize individual rights? I think many in Georgia may disagree with you.

Me I am anti-license to marry by the state. Some of that history appears to be rooted in "inter-racial" marriages. Who is the state to tell me who I can love or not love, spend my life with, or have sex with? (this of course means between two consenting adults )

Notice nobody's interested in the worms?

Edit: Never mind, I guess SVG took the bait. :p

I guess that means the following is OK:

"Ah well, I'm glad to live in Virginia where this interracial marriage crap will not fly!"

D'oh!

If two humans want to get married, they should be able to and also be recognized as a married couple for all legal reasons.

I would really like to watch one TV program that doesn't have two dudes or two gals kissing though? Is that too hard to ask for? Why is it that 10% of the population is gay and 90% of the TV is gay? Am I being discriminated against or what?

But what does abortion have to do with this thread? Or eugenics, for that matter?

What are the homophobes so worried about isn't practicing homosexuality a form of eugenics since they mostly won't pass their gay genes on? (sarcasm)

I like how Daniel Tosh put it, if they are so afraid of it being wrong what are they so worried for, they won't be in heaven with you. (paraphrase)

From a religious stand point, I (personally) don't agree with gay marriage.

From a liberty stand point, I'm glad Prop 8 did not pass. It's not the government's business to meddle with what people want to do with their lives, and it's not my prerogative to enforce my religious views on others.

That's very reasonable.
