Oh, I have some bad news. I lost it while ice fishing today.

You didn't loose it in your ice hole did you?

Yesterday I was at my mechanic's shop waiting on my car and talking to an older (than me) lady. She brought up the subject of gun laws and said she was worried that "new regulations" would be implemented and affect her sons' hunting activities. She then mentioned that crazed people like the one in Tuscon should never have a "semi automatic pistol." She didn't see any "need" for a semi auto handgun.

So I asked her if everyone except LEO should use muzzle loaders. She was speechless to that question so I asked if creating another law would really stop any criminals from committing more crimes. To that she quietly answered, "I guess not, they don't obey the law anyway."

Hopefully I planted a seed of common sense.

I went to a small birthday party on Sat. I was filling my plate with food when one of the kids attending walked up on my strong side. She is a girl about 10 yrs old. She sees me carrying and initiates a conversation.
Girl: Hey you have a gun, why do you have a gun?
Me: To keep the Bad Guys away
Girl: The Bad Guys?
Me: Yes
Girl: No for real, why do you have it?
Me: Yes for real!
Girl: For real?
Me: Yes for real
Girl: Oh
Then she walked away

Another day I was at an auto parts store and a guy notices and asked if I got hassled by the cops for carrying a gun. I smiled and said yes, once. We conversed and he stated he is a transplant from AZ and has his permit for there. He moved here and was told it's not a good idea and he will have problems. He said he carried everywhere he went when he lived there. He stated he would start carrying if it would help the cause. I told him to make sure he educates himself on the places where he can and can't. He then had to rush off with his friend that was already heading out the door.

She must of been a bad guy.... :D

LoL, well from comments I heard from her mom, the girl can be a handful. I think that's just a girl thing...but that's a whole different topic for a different forum. I love talking to kids though, they are so simple and innocent. After the explanation, the girl just said oh and went about her business. That's the way it should be.

sounds like the totality of circumstances added up to zero!

I have a grandson who has not been raised around firearms. I was carrying one day when I visited their home and he came up and asked, "is that a REAL gun"? He is also a handful and then some.

Obviously the presence of firearms doesn't bother kids in the least. Since that day, he's now asking to come out and shoot some handguns.

He is 7 or 8 years old.

Totality of circumstances?
