A.R.S. 17-305

Yeah, that currently reads:

17-305. Possession of other weapons while hunting; violation; classification

A. The possession of legal weapons, devices, ammunition or magazines, which are not authorized to take wildlife, is not prohibited while hunting if the weapon or device is not used to take wildlife.

B. Taking wildlife by using a weapon, device, ammunition or magazine that is not authorized to take wildlife is a class 1 misdemeanor.

http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/17/00305.htm&Title=17&DocType=ARS

So PLEASE rpyne, get your facts straight and up to date.

I don't think I can say AZ is more restrictive than UT. I can't comment on ID, but I consider myself an expert on NV, AZ, and UT.

They are just restrictive in different ways. UT with its unloaded requirement when on a public street (not in a car), and AZ with its laws on restaurants/bars/etc.

What do you consider the disadvantage that puts AZ over UT in overall restrictiveness?

Can't we just be happy that the Brady Bunch hates us both? ;)

...snip.. Traveling in the desert unarmed is risky. ...snip

Last year or so me and a buddy were out scouting out places to shoot and we came across two BLM officers (not sure what the correct title is) but we were both packing pistols and AR-15's. They told us to be careful in the area as it was a smuggling area and that the AR-15's were a good idea.

Wait a minute.. You mean they didn't detain you, accuse you of smuggling. Take your guns, and make you prove you're innocent? Ahhh I love Arizona. :)

I live in the great state of Virginia and can't imagine living elsewhere. But you all make Arizona sound pretty great. If I ever HAVE to move....I know where I am headed. :)

Nathan, I'm sorry you had a negative interaction with PPD. I've heard of this kind of thing happening before--my friend Bob was told he couldn't carry in Fain Park by PVPD (after the preemption law was strengthened by AZCDL).

I personally had a negative interaction on July 29, 2011 with PVPD officer VanGundy because he was under the mistaken impression that we are required to inform PD that we are armed BEFORE they ask. It wouldn't surprise me if Mr. VanGundy was a lateral from CA.

I'm middle aged so I tend not to get screwed with anymore but I remember when I was young.

Carrying a small recording device is an excellent idea. Prescott is a small town and LE talks just like everyone else. In the words of Ani DiFranco, "Smile pretty and watch your back."

Transplated to Arizona from PW.W. County this past July. When I visit my daughter whome still lives in the Dumfries Triangle area I OC. I need to contact the courts to change my residency on my CCW Permit for PWC. Small world, running into someone from basically my home town on an Arizona forum.

Have not had any bad experiences as of yet with a LEO here. A questionable weather or not his request to run a check on my sidearm was legal or not had happened once. Think it was due to the nature of the whole incident. Called in a possible IED along side a street. Greeted the officer, told him I had a sidearm on. Other officers arrived, planned how to approach the suspiscious device. Officer came to my ruck, requested my firearm with the magazine. Later went to a police station, discussed with a supervisor other things that hapened that made me feel as though I was a criminal.
The Supervisor advised me any IED or related are Department of Homeland Security level and the officers were following protocal.

I was cool with that. Since that time I've had officers compliment my weapon and actually thank me for OC.

Just my .02
