I'll bet it does! I didn't think of using it that way, but I'll keep it ready from now on.



One of Twain anecdotes involved...well, here it is:

At one time there was quite a controversy about whether the Stratford-on-Avon Shakespeare was the author of the plays. There is a good bit of evidence he wasn't. But, it leaves open the question of who did. At one time there was a group dedicated to the conclusion that Francis Bacon wrote the plays.

The group invited Twain to a dinner, seeking his endorsement of Francis Bacon as the real author of the works. But Twain would only go as far as to say he was certain Stratford-on-Avon did not write them, but couldn't say for sure that Bacon did.

Apparently the attempts at persuasion went on for a while. Twain tried to end the attempts at persuasion by remarking he would just have to wait until he got to heaven to ask Bacon.

Diner: "You won't find him in heaven."

Twain: "Fine. Then you ask him."
