Posted a short summary and link to the news article on our main page on the website.

Acadia Rally roundup

Despite inclement weather, approximately 30 OC supporters joined together today at Thompson Park to commemorate the last day of legal open carry in Acadia. Paul Mattson (Maine CWP Training) provided an informative overview of current events in the state legislature and a rundown of the current state of firearm rights in Maine before fielding some questions. Shane and Norman gave rousing speeches on the importance of exercising and protecting our rights, which will be available later on the site. NBC Affiliate WLBZ2 and the Bangor Daily News covered the event.
WLBZ2 Article and Video Over the next few days we will be adding photo and video content from the rally.

What do you think of the press coverage? On scale of 1 to 10 I'd call it a five. I really didn't expect to much from the media. Would like to thank everyone that attended. I had very good time. A lot of young folks at Acadia. If this is the future of the country there still may be hope for good old USA. My party was very impressed. Enough said.

we were on the front page of the bangor daily news, I thought that that was pretty good, made the PPH which is kind of astounding seeing as it's out of Portland. There were also a few others. I've been having TV stations calling me to do interviews left and right now that the ban is in effect but I'm way up in Caribou again...

Two very good things have happened:

People are becoming aware and you are being taken seriously.

Good job! :D

As your numbers grow and as the exposure has an accumulative effect, you will gain in strength and respect.

Thank you for what you are doing.

No no no... you boys down in VA are the ones who need to be thanked. You guys started this entire freedom movement. It's not about firearms... it's about freedom and being an AMERICAN! This I take, extremely seriously.

Paraphrasing John Donne:

No man is an island, no man stands alone, each man is my brother. We are all part of the main.

So whether someone from Chicago wins a case, or Virginians regain the right to CC when eating out, or a new viable group springs up in Maine, we all benefit.

I stand by my original "Thank you." ;)

There in spirit.

Hey guys. I'm sorry I missed the gathering! Wasn't for lack of trying though! I made it to Acadia and just could not find the picnic area. I asked Wardens, checked a visitors center... everything. The GPS was too broad and couldn't pinpoint the area and my phone couldn't hold a connection long enough to get a call through, so eventually I just gave up the goat :-(

I did drive around Acadia with my gun openly holstered however, so I did at least get to carry there before the ban, haha!

I got lost badly, and the rain didn't help. I was so frustrated! Poor planning on my part. I assumed the picnic areas were all close together surrounding a visitor center, like most other parks. By the time I got there I had no way to check.

I'm glad the turnout was decent though.
