All well and good but unfortunately a BG can close a 20 foot gap in less time than you have to react. I would submit that if you have time to do all that, the BG is already hesitant and/or at a momentarily safe distance. The ones you have to worry about are the ones that attack with no warning from close distance. You may only have time to draw and shoot, if that. Some BG's just don't wanna talk or listen to reason. Just a thought.

What do they teach about a situation like that?

Front Sight has Hand to Hand combat classes as well. I have not taken one, hope to this summer. I have the course manual and it looks comprehensive. As the Metro/ CiCi's Pizza executions demonstrated, An ambush is almost impossible to defend.

Most good martial art training can be incorporated into a firearms carriers defensive repertoire. Noting fancy needed good punches, kicks, elbows, knees etc. and the willingness use them is far more important then specific training.

Got an email from NRA about some very 2A positive NV bills that look to be making it into law here soon. One of which does away with the Blue Card scam and requires Metro to destroy their list of registered gun owners. Yay!

Just sharing:

This thread's been dead for awhile, but I understand if you wish to move this post to a more appropriate thread Grapeshot.

With the "help" from some of the gun rights organizations, we were lucky to get anything.

Or, should I say despite the "help" of some of them, it's amazing we got anything.

Weird happening.

Took the wife, son/daughter in law (her first time shooting), and daughter/boyfriend to the Boulder City range on Saturday. We had the steel set up and were shooting handguns. All of the sudden 2 dark drab helicopter gun ships came up from
behind the backstop and hovered momentarily at about 30 feet up and 50 yards maximum down range. They were easily within range for a wild shot to have hit them. Neither ship had any markings on them and this included tail numbers. We could see the gunner sitting in the open door. They then dropped back down slightly and moved off behind all the shooting positions. One of the more interesting thing was how quiet they were. There are choppers flying overhead out there all the time as they take people out to the Grand Canyon on tours. You can hear them coming from a long way even with ears on.

You are on their list(s) and being tracked.

Be grateful that no one rappelled down to have a consensual conversation and check the serial numbers on your guns.

......that is weird.

This veteran is a true hero.....

yesterday, we were shopping at Winco for Abby & Georgia's birthday party. Tim and I were both carrying, Tim had his 357 and I was carrying the 1911. I forgot a couple of things and went back into the store. I saw a Vietnam Veteran at the self check out and I stopped and thanked him for his service. I got my items and was at the self checkout. A man approached me and condescendingly asked me why I had my firearm. From behind me the veteran spoke up and said, "Because I fought for her right to carry it." The look on the man's face was priceless. It brought me to tears...

It was spooky weird......

I'm telling you it spooked all of us, especially our daughter's boyfriend......who by the way is studying to be a constitutional attorney.......His comment was, "that was not cool. "

Wow that's an encounter I'm sorry not to have been present for. That Vietnam veteran must have made the rude guy feel about three inches tall.

Go immediately to a large department store. You have to buy everything new...pants, shirt, belt, shirt, shoes, socks, underwear (unless you go commando), watch, wallet. Don't buy a new cell phone; you can still be tracked.

Go to the dressing room and strip off everything. Put on all the new clothing you bought. Leave the old stuff behind inside the dressing room. (that includes wallet, watch, cell phone, etc.). Quickly, but slow-quick, not quick-quick, exit the department store by a side exit door leading to an alley not visible from the street. Leave your car. Go on foot.

You're gonna have to run now. Stay low. No one you know. No place familiar.

I know people make jokes about this like black silent unmarked helicopters are some theory but, and I'm dead serious, the wife and I used to see them ALL THE TIME like 15 to 20 years ago when we lived in Michigan. If you weren't looking you'd never hear 'em coming. We just got lucky looking up in the evening sky and after the first sighting it became a thing to go look for. Black, no markings, no lights and no sound. Like "Snipe hunting", but real.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're wrong.

Hey Big Guy, ya know the NSA can't listen in on your phones again until after Tuesday so maybe that's how their gettin it done for now. lol

Last Saturday evening Southern Nevada open carry Face Book group had its monthly OC dinner and meet up. We had 14 adults and I believe 6 kids. At an Applebee's in NLV. Had a great time, good food. As we were there a NLVPD LEO came in for dinner sat facing our group may be 20 feet away. Appeared to care less. A few of the OCers walking right past him to use the facilities. No issues, Applebee's seemed to be glad to have us.

Now I've heard that a couple times - that NLV and Boulder have issues with open carry, but I thought that was debunked. No? I've oc'd into Bargain Pawn and walking the street in NLV and all up and down the main street with all the shops and the Coffee Cup Cafe and others in Boulder.

I "thought" I was being legal. ??

The laws are still on the books. Rumors from when they were enforced still confuse people today. I had to write a blog post about it. Then someone asks about it on Facebook the very next day. Tsk tsk tsk

Oh well, hopefully, after today it's all moot.

I emailed NLVPD about it a few months ago. I got a reply from a Sgt. there. She wrote that NLVPD is perfectly fine with OC in public, and that their officers don't arrest or harass people for doing so. She also wrote, however, that NLV had an ordinance banning possession/OC of a firearm inside a car without a CCW, suggesting that people are still subject to arrest under that ordinance.
