Exactly. I never answer my door unless I invited you over. One of these days I'll get a sign made for my door:

If I know you, call first.

If I don't know you, go away.

I am the same way. However my front door is 150 feet from my remotely controled 6foot gate with an unobstructed view. If I get an unannounced visitor knocking on my door Mr 12g will be at the ready.

OC'd at a bar where Lone Mountain dead ends into Camino Del Norte on the northeast. Also at the smog shop next door. And at BJs in the NW by the Centennial Walmart. All non-issues. I was carrying the rather large Ruger P95 so I was quite obvious.

Decided to carry that one more often after the other day of shooting. Slowly I could group 'em all within a half inch at 15 feet. Fast shooting they were within 1.5 inches. I was pretty shocked. I'm normally not that great of a shot with a pistol.

I started the fast shooting within 15 feet thing like 13 years ago after taking an NRA self-defense shooting course where the old instructor stressed "as fast as you can get 'em out of the gun & still hit your target". I loved it! And of course there's always those folks at the range that love to make snide comments about it. Like in a self-defense panic situation you're gonna get any time to actually "aim". If you have that kind of time then you have time to retreat. We're not cops and as such we have no obligation past saving life and limb.

Measuring group size is how I determine whether to tell my students to speed up or slow down.

If your shots are within four inches or so, you are shooting too slowly.

IMHO you shouldnt have to aim. If you have muscle memory for your draw and grip, then you should only have to concentrate on pointing your thumbs at your target (or evaluating it/whats behind it). With enough practice I was able to draw, move backwards in a crouch, and fire at a target around 10 yards away (double tap), and have a 2 inch spread within a 2 inch radius from bullseye. Without using my sights. I havent practiced in a long while so im sure I couldnt do it now, but I still practice in front of my mirror every now and again. YMMV of course

Muscles is the only thing I have that still has a memory.

It's OPEN CARRY night!

Hello everyone...SharpShootur here!

LOL! (My customary greeting just for you Turbod'1) I've been sorting things at work, please excuse my absence. I just signed on today and noticed this tread. I thought "hey this sounds fantastic!" Read the thread and found my name being dropped on a WAY COOL idea! DTOM (i.e. Don't Tread On Me) has alluded to an open carry event. In fact, he has also invited DocRed. Since this is such an auspicious occasion and that open carry on The Strip/Freemont Street Experience is long overdue, I'm game!

How would you guys like to accompany me for an open carry on November 16th at 5:00 p.m. We can all meet up at the El Cortez! We can meet up in front of the Subway restaurant doors (located on Ogden). Parking in the garage there is free. That's right people, you heard me FREE (cost you zip, zero, nada!). Once you've parked in the FREE parking garage, simply use the pedestrian crosswalk to cross over to the south side of the street. Head west (or head towards your right once you've crossed the street) and you'll find the Subway.

OF COURSE THIS INVITATION GOES OUT TO ALL OPEN CARRIERS! I'll take the lead and ask those that wish to attend to please RSVP to my inbox. If your unable to attend at that specified time, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Accommodations can be made. It would be nice to have a number of groups at different times to join. If you know other OCers, PLEASE inform them of this event! :D

Went to Kungfu Thai/Chinese restaurant in the Spring Mountain area. Walked around in the shopping center in the same area with the wife and kid. No issues.

It's better IMO to create a separate thread for each individual event. Then there is no searching through a litany of pages.

Put location & date in the title and ask for a stickie - build it and they will come.

Perhaps, even an OC Events sub folder in the Nevada folder.

UPDATE:

sorry for the delay been busy with work.
So I confronted the management AND head of security and it got dropped. Seems somebody seen me OC, got scared and called in a complaint. Should be a non-issue from this point on.

Im gonna try the same complaining to mommy thing on stuff that makes me scared like:

*Gays
*Blacks
*Tats
*Piercings
*Bikers
*Bud Light drinkers
*Salesmen
*Trophies for showing up
:p

Seriously people, when does equality mean equal? Dammit I'm so tired of people getting their panties in a bunch over things they don't agree with! NO VICTIM means NO CRIME. Live and let live for crying out loud. :banghead:

And for any that don't get the joke there, I'm saying that oc is legal and victimless therefore leave us the f alone.

OC at the ViMBAR match again. Then joined many of the guys at BJ's Brewhouse again. No issues there except they poured me the seasonal ale instead of the red ale. I'm an easy guy; it wasn't too bad!

Is "scared" the right term to use here?

I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you what I think, based on WHAT I'VE SEEN --based in my background and experiences, because I'm SO tired of people being "tolerant" of bad behavior to seem "nice/warm/open-minded", etc., al

[NB: you made the list bellow and MY comments follow after the "--" and I suspect that you are making this list tongue in cheek :p]

*Gays --Statistically
*Blacks --Statistically
*Tats -- GRATUITOUSLY: On men, it implies that you should fear them because they're so badass; on women, it's an indelible unheard cry for help and indicative of the sort of low self esteem that leads to all the falseness of over makeup, boob jobs, expensive weaves/dye jobs/wigs high-heels. It's a lie.
*Piercings -- As above with the observation that any piercing on a man is the equivalent to sagging your pants [the whole "bling" of dual Diamond earrings --aren't diamonds for girls? And no one wants to see your ass]; Women, if not in either excess nor nose- I have no problem.
*Bikers -- Statistically
*Bud Light drinkers --Statistically
*Salesmen --??
*Trophies for showing up -- see [*1]
:p

This part I'm not sure that you're kidding --Here's the thing; while there may be no victim NOW it should be fairly conclusive that you CAN cause harm by the steady degradation and indoctrination of the youth to buy into a lie. Over time, that lie becomes truth and eventually EVERYONE gets [*1]"Trophies for showing up". Kinda like how people are amazed that you can open carry... yaknow, guns are bad. Hell, even worked on me for awhile. :)

So, tell me... who exactly wins in this case, when we have no-one willing to stand up for what they believe in... if indeed, they are willing to BELIEVE in anything?

And for any that don't get the joke there, I'm saying that oc is legal and victimless therefore leave us the f alone.

In conclusion, I'll also say that YES, I judge people all the time!

Everyone discriminates based upon, among other things, exposure, per-dispositions, moral/idealogical desires (or lack there of), experiences... yet we ALL discriminate constantly. Be it our perceptions and bias towards people or **** like our choice of cars, guns, furniture, bedding, types of food, drink... WE DISCRIMINATE.

With that said, "exposure" = "indoctrination" when it starts talking about "tolerance" to children who have no experience to evaluate for THEMSELVES!

Not many people are as "lucky" as me to have learned the hard way that not all people are good, not all causes are great and that the worst thing in 2013 isn't MY intolerance, rather, the intolerance of the ignorant brain washed tools that will automatically claim that I'm am a Racist, Bigot, Homophobe. [Hell, even > I < didn't want to join the Tea Party after it was deemed "Racist" because indoctrination works on me too I see. Dammit.]

...Without an inkling of what they're talking about, "I'm easy to label while they are 'aware'".

Sheesh.

Not really sure what you're saying here and I don't want to hijack this thread into a philosophical discussion so I'll be brief.

I believe that people have natural rights that should not be infringed so long as expressing those rights does not invade upon other's natural rights (see all of my list). In other words, "No victim means no crime." And even if I may not agree or like how someone decides to live (see most of my list) and I may even believe that it will lead to the total destruction of mankind itself, I most definitely believe in their natural right to do so - above all else. That is the meaning of "freedom" to me. And without it, I'd rather be dead.

And while I'd love to write about this so much more, that would be intruding upon the folks who came here to discuss "Where did you carry and how did it go".
