Hey guys,

Newbie for the forum here, I'll introduce myself formally here soon.

I am a Sparks resident, and wish you all the best of luck. I am leaving for a Texas vacation tomorrow, or else I would be inviting myself along.

PLEASE post results/reactions to your event. I've been trying to talk myself into OC ever since the weather got nice a month ago. Been a permit holder just over 6 months, and I'm finding the warm weather can be a pain lol...

Welcome! I would guess that tomorrows dinner will be only the first of many and there will be plenty of oppourtunity to join us in the future. Have fun on your vacation and stay in touch when you get back!

Whats up jfrey! Welcome to OCDO.

I work in Sparks and know a couple people who live there, so I may have unknowingly seen you around! ;)

Have fun in Texas! We will certainly post about what goes down (if anything - hopefully nothing!) and how things went. Perhaps you will join us for some other meet in the future (Unfortunately, sans BobCav).

Hey, we had a great time! It was a blast meeting everyone. Me and my wife Rosana, Loneviking and his daughter, Felid Maximus, Rains and wayneco showed up.

We met in the Wal-Mart Parking lot at about 7:00 PM and made our introductions. We waited until about 7:20 then headed to the Claim Jumper restaurant. That was my first time there, but it was a great restaurant!

The only mention of our OC by anyone elsewas while we were standing there waiting for our table, a young lady seated right behind me while standing laughed to her family "I hope that's not real!". I heard her comment, smiled and turned and she asked me if it was. She was nicethe whole time andI told her of course it is, becauseI sure would feel silly walking around carrying a fake gun! Herfatherasked if I was a LEO and I explained no, just a citizen who chooses to defend himself and that we're from OpenCarry.org and just prefer to carry openly instead of concealed.

He asked if I needed a permit to carry it and I explained that nope, none needed. Just be over 18,notinelligible from legally posessing a firearm (felony, adjudicated mental conditions)and othewise iaw state law. The whole family seemed interested and even the mother asked why I carried and if this (meaning educating others) was why? I told her that sure, it's a way of educating people, but primarily for self-defense and to show people that not just LEO's and criminals carry guns, but regular citizens too.She asked about the Navy (I was wearing my Navy polo shirt) and we talked a little morebefore they left for their table.

We enjoyed a great dinner and somegreat conversation as well and it was an honor to meet and break bread with our Nevada OC'ers! I really hope this will be the first of many! Great meeting everyone!

Here's a pic of us: L to R are me andmy wife, loneviking and his daughter, Felid Maximus, Rains and Wayneco.

Yes, it was a very fun time indeed. Bob did great explaining everything (with the full support of the group) to the group of people who inquired. Dinner was awesome and discussions were interesting!

And yes that thing on my chin is known to my roommates as the 'Goat from Hell'.

Good times! Hope to do it again sometime.

Don't worry, we'll do this again sometime soon! Maybe we'll have to come over to Fallon and have dinner, then go to the Stillwater monthly meeting...

Do you have to be a member to attend the Stillwater meetings? (Yes I realize the apparent stupidity of the question, but hey - some clubs dont require membership :p) I dont recall them saying for sure if you had to be a member or not on the website.
