Though huddle house sounds good but since you can smoke in oxford how about firehouse subs mine here in southaven not only has some Damn good grub but is also oc friendly

Just to clarify, you can smoke in Oxford, you just can't smoke in the building. Not a big deal to me. We get through with our meal, we all go outside and light up. No problem. I don't see this as a point of contention for moving the meet from Oxford to somewhere else. Everyone seems to be on board for Oxford, and it seems to be a central location for those driving. Not to mention those going to Ole Miss. I've put too much into this to be changing venues now. OPD is well aware that this will be happening sometime in August, and we should have a smooth get together.

We're almost being cheered on here folks, so let's not mess it up. If our goal is to make John Q. Public realize that a person OC'ing is not the bad guy, then this is an opportunity, and I should think we'd want to take every advantage of it.

If ya'll are still on board, about the last week in July, I'll start asking what everyone's schedule is, and hopefully come up with a date that is acceptable to all in August. I for one, am looking forward to it. I hope ya'll are too!

Well, that's fine, we don't necessarily have to do Huddle House. I was just trying to pick a place that wasn't too trashy and wasn't too fancy at the same time. You can get anything from a steak to an omelet or hamburger or roast beef there. And you don't have to put the tip on your credit card with the fancy leather bound book they close your credit card up in. I'd guess that most Mississippi OC'ers just want some good food and good conversation. And this is a place we probably won't alarm Mr. and Mrs. "Upington". In fact, I'd bet that there'd be several 'good ole boys' that would approach us with admiration and good intentions. Which.....is what we want after all isn't it? Education? You CAN legally OC in MS? Spread the word and all that stuff?

But if Huddle House is not acceptable, it's still early enough to make it somewhere else. I'm not the boss here, I'm just trying to coordinate, and get everyone on the same page, since I live in Oxford, it only seems the right thing to do.

I am open to any feedback you guys may have.

Education is definitely a major goal with this. I have been OCing for several months now and have had the chance to educate several people who had no clue it could be done. When I OC I try to be extremely friendly and speak to as many people as I can. I find that your body language and your attitude makes a huge difference. I usually don't even get many funny looks. I do have lots of people ask me what I'm carrying. It's always fun to talk guns! lol.

Huddle House is fine with me! I'm a good ole boy myself.

I know it's kinda early, but I'd like to get a feel for it. That is everyone's schedule for August. I've already been told that Aug. 6/7 is not good for doing it, how about August 13/14? Saturday or Sunday. Huddle House is open 24/7 365 days a year, so that's not a problem. We'll drill it down to a Saturday or Sunday after everyone chimes in.

If it's too early for you to know, just say so, and I'll ask again in a couple of weeks. Right now, I'm trying to get an idea of how many people might be here, regardless of what weekend it is in August. And I'm thinking we should do this somewhere around noon till 2pm on whatever day we choose. Give some people some time to get up and drive whatever distance they have to drive. All that will be worked out, depending on the responses I get.

No one should commit to anything right now, I'm just trying to get and IDEA of what I need to do to, or what I will be looking at. And again, no one elected me boss, but since I live here, I will be happy to help get everyone on the same page. Even if we get 5 or 6, that will be a great event!

But this thread has had over a THOUSAND views, so I don't see why we shouldn't get at least 10. Ya'll just let me know what August looks like for you, and I'll start trying to pin everything down.

This will be a great opportunity for us to draw attention to open carry, and explain to anyone questioning it, why it is legal, and why we are doing it, and why it should be done.

That's great. I'd like to hear from some others who plan on showing up. No commitment, just do you intend to try to join us? I'm just trying to get an idea of what we're looking at here. I don't just throw the pieces up in the air and let them fall were they may, or do anything half way. And I like to have everyone else informed of all information as well.

Good deal. Marking you down. So far, it's me and you, and yet we don't know who else. I just want to know who is INTENDING on coming, not dates or anything like that. I THINK armysredneck has pretty much said he would be here, but I'm not entirely sure. If he does, that would be great. I think he lives in Southaven, which wouldn't be but a hop skip and a jump to Oxford.

Pontotoc to Oxford is kinda like driving from one side of Oxford to the other. It's more miles, but it's about the same wait!

Ok, everyone who is THINKING about coming, please chime in now, even if you're not sure you're going to make it.

I really really need to know what we're looking at here.

And I need to pick a date in August that is applicable to everyone. And I can't do that if you don't at least tell me that you are intending to come.

If we have 5 or 6 that would be great. If we had 8 or 10 that would be amazing! I'd LOVE to see 10 of us there, and not an OPD in sight.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. It has to be on a Saturday, and it can only be in a certain week in August. At least we've made that much progress. Maybe I can go about this a better way: I don't want you to PICK the date, I just want you to tell me what weekends in August are NOT good for you, and what weekends ARE good for you. I mean I'll put all this together and figure out what date the most people, or everyone, can be there. And I do realize that some of you don't even know that information yet. But as soon as you do, please let me know, because I don't like haphazardly doing anything. I could PM each of you, but I don't see the point in it, as I think everyone needs to know what the plan is.

Just publicly post what weekend is good for you, and I'll take it from there. And if they're ALL good then post that too, it'll be taken into consideration.
