Hey All - New Hampshire Non Resident Permit carrier here and was hoping to get some advice from anyone familiar with the process of renewing a permit. Actually specifically the question about whether I have had any other permits denied from other states. To expand some I am also a NYC Premise Permit carrier and at renewal was denied ( super loong story ) but anyone who is familiar with NYPD especially over the few years knows if you sneeze the wrong way they will deny you. I have retained an attorney and am going through the process with him but in the meantime any advice on answering that question? Should I include the entire background of the reason why the NYPD - if answering yes to that question is going to cause issue I may just decide not to renew and wait for the NYPD to get their Sh*& straight...... Any thoughts?

I'm a resident of NH, so I've never had to deal with that.

I assume you want it for reciprocity. Florida and Michigan won't recognize your non-resident NH license, but 20-something other states will (including those that don't require a license).

If it were me, I would simply say that NY licensing is discretionary, and your license was not renewed. If there has been no questionable conduct of any kind (meaning zero police contact other than low level traffic citations), point out that there was no cause or reason given for non-renewal (assuming that's the case).

I do know where you can find out, though. There are lots of Massachusetts residents who have (or have had) non-resident NH licenses. They may not have renewed since NH went Constitutional Carry, but the process hasn't changed at NHSP.

KBCraig,

Hey thank you for the reply sorry I’m just now acknowledging your post. I appreciate the suggestion and it sounds logical. I am going to post in the Massachusetts section just to throw it out there and see what people have to say about their experiences.

Otherwise will most likely point out the discretionary part of NY licensing which is 💯 accurate.

Thanks again,
