Another problem with the airbag is that there are BG's that do nothing but steal airbags. They fetch a pretty penny from body shops.  "Whoa - bonus, dude! A gun!"

It was a good thought, though.

I've thought about this with every airbag equipped car I've owned just because to me it's wasted space. It's far more difficult than it seems and will usually require recovering the dash at best (passenger side airbags often destroy the dash when they deploy, dramatically increasing repair bills).

It might be worth it if I could find someone who would buy the removed airbag, but I've never had any luck there either.

IF a LEO has to keep his or her Piece in the car for any reason how do they secure it?

I was going to use a safe lock box with a cable but you can just cut those with blot cutters. I want to know my piece is secure.
When are there any circumstances when an ON duty officer would need to leave their weapon in their car?

I was meaning more of a plain clothed officer who may need to secure their weapon in a time when they may need to engage someone without their gun. I wouldn't do that but in times where you must be as crediable as possible this would be a definite concern.
