Here is the actual internal memo for M&I. If you notice the verbage of the signage is as such "This facility participates in the "No Hats, No Hoods, No Sunglasses, No Guns security program. Please remove these items before entering."

This program as designed and set up is a voluntary program. This fact is called out and recognized in the internal memo. This means that M&I bank does not officially ban hoods, hats, sunglasses or guns. The reality is that the people who are working at your local branch believe that this is a ban and will likely ask you to leave and come back without your Openly Carried handgun. I will test this out at my local branchthe next time I have to go there.

I chose not to carry in the bank today after seeing the signage. I then asked for a copy of the memo. I looked up the info from the press release when this program was implemented. This quote is key...:

People that refuse will still be served, said Bauer, but “everyone in the bank will be watching them more closely.”

Here is something from the FAQ.. Notice that it does not say "Demand" It says "Prefer".

[align=left]Why include guns as part of this campaign?
In Wisconsin, it is legal to carry a firearm, if it is not concealed, into a bank. Even though it is legal, bankers participating in this program would prefer, for the safety of bank customers and their employees, that customers refrain from bringing weapons into the financial institution.
