Well, technically thanks to Daniel Almond of "Muster 4/19" and "Restore the Constitution" for directing her to me/us. I supported (provided sound reinforcement) his rally at Fort Hunt & Gravelly Point last year and RT.com wanted to talk to Virginians about OC and OC-relevant topics.

We were supposed to conduct the interview on Sunday, but between ODA and I the brilliant idea came up to coordinate the interview(s) with the visibility of the cleanup event and try to make a day of it.

They are very excited about the opportunity.

I spoke to Kaelyn Forde of "RT" Television last night. She and her camera crew will arrive in our AO on Friday night and will be with us all day on Saturday to include the Ragged Island Cleanup and the fellowship lunch at the Thunderbird Grille.

Some final coordination.....

Dress appropriately for the weather. We will conduct this cleanup rain or shine!

I recommend you pack a couple power bars and bring along a Camelback for water if you have one. Bring a water bottle or canteen at a minimum.

Work gloves and an extra pair of shoes or boots (your feet will get muddy!) and a change of clothes just in case!

I will provide water jugs to refill Camelbacks/ water bottles.

If you choose to carry a handgun, carry it in a secure holster...we don't want any handguns falling into the creek or the mud.

No concealed handguns without a valid CHP!

I drive a black Jeep Wrangler with VCDL Magnets displayed on the sides. If you arrive late and see my vehicle, we've already begun the cleanup. Walk past the kiosk and the gate and enter the footpath that heads generally east.

We will begin cleaning on that path. The path leads to a boardwalk. Turn left onto the boardwalk. If you make it to the end of the boardwalk and still don't see us it is because we've started cleaning the island proper.

Jump over the rail of the boardwalk and follow the rough footpath that runs east and parallel to the river and towards a group of prominent fur trees. You will find us on the beach when you exit the tall grass.

We will NOT clean the inner island on Saturday.

Let's get out there and do some good for our rights and the environment! See you Saturday morning at 09:00 AM!

I will not be able to attend due to work!

And to think I may be missing my big break thru as a film star is really depressing!

Ya'll do good and enjoy lunch.

What is the best way to get there from VA Beach? I am looking at maps.google.com and it shows 3 different places for the Ragged Island WMA all 10 miles apart?

Thanks for any info in advance.

The position I see is 36.965117,-76.514916 I put it in yahoomaps and they suggest coming up 64 to Mercury Blvd across the bridge. I would probably just go through Norfolk and follow 17.

45ACP4MEs' map is correct. If you take the James River Bridge south on 17 the parking lot is ON THE LEFT at the FIRST LIGHT after you cross the bridge.

Final Coordination!

We've received 200 contractors bags from DGIF, notified the Isle of Wight Sheriffs' Office, and made reservations for 10-20 at the T-Bird.

If you get lost or hung up, call me.

See you at 09:00AM tomorrow morning!

Just wanted to give thanks to everyone that showed up and helped cleanup that mess! We filled 57 bags and removed other debris.

I went back to walk the dog tonight and found NEW trash thrown of of the boardwalk already! I climbed down and retrieved it and added to the trash already collected.

I spoke to 3 people all of whom thanked us for our efforts.

Thanks again to all of you for the great effort!

Craig
