Funny thing is since people have been talking about that dumb factory holster Im looking for a XD that only comes with the mags since all that extra shit puts the cost up another 100 dollers for worthless crap like a stupid case.
Thats a really good point you made about the holster you would have more retention in a walmart bbgun holster lol.

Guys, I do not know if the supplied holster with the XD is the same as what comes with the XD-m, But I like the SA holster. I simplytightened the retention screw (with the provided hex-wrench) and it grabs the trigger guard with an audible "Click" whenever I pull it out or reholster it.

if your firearm simply slips out of the SA holster, tighten it up!
it is not the highest quality holster out there, but for a freebie it does just fine when properly adjusted. it beats the hell out of a flimsy nylon holster, but at the same time is not the same level of retention as a Serpa.

I have owned or shot both XDs and XD-Ms in theavailable calibers. I am definitely a fan of the XD over the Glocks which I have also owned in the past. The standard XD holster is not a paddle type like the M. I still prefer my Blackhawk Serpa and leather pancake over anything factory.

I had a couple XD9s but switched over to .45 and got my XD45CT a few weeks ago. I was originally looking for all black, but mine is actually a bi-tone. (Previous owner had the slide redone.)

Another thumbs up for XD 45. You could not love a human baby as much as I love that gun. My ONLY complaint is that it does not work well with semi-wadcutter bullets. That can be resolved very easily, however; I won't buy/load any more semi-wadcutters. :) I have a couple thousand rounds through mine and it has performed flawlessly. It is my daily carry - OC and CC. It can be a little uncomfortable for IWB CC because of it's thickness, but oh well. If I could only have one pistol, it would be and XD 45.

My XD45 service compact, all black, is my primary carry sidearm, usually carrying it IWB as I can't OC in my town. Nice pistol, works well and is my SHTF choice given its durability.

Yes, I do use the XD holster that came with it. I primarily use it in the cooler seasons when I am wearing jackets or sports coats for CC as it is not a good choice, IMO, for general OC. I also like it on the range. I keep the tension adjustment set such that I have never once had it fall out and have never been concerned that it might. Also, I wear it with a snugged up "gun belt" (usually 5.11 leather with insert). That has eliminated the "flopping" that I had issue with when I first started carrying using regular belts.

Good luck on your search!

I have had my XD45 Service since 2006, and by far, it is my favorite shooter...congrats on your purchase!

As Texas is not an OC state :X mine rides in a Fobus SP11-- usually under an untucked polo..

Great pistol though..

How right you are! After reading your post I decided to check out the XD 45 at the range today and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the XD fit my hand when compared to a Glock 21. I had been somewhat interested in the Glock but even the Short Frame version was still a bit to large for my tastes so I just figured the only .45 I'd be owning would be of the GAP variety. Wrong! After trying the XD today I'm definitely interested and the fact that Springfield offers the gun in a compact frame (the full size is unnecessarily tall for my hand) only serves to seal the deal.

Well I should prob be smacked by a pimp with a tiger stripe desert eagle in a purple suit,I just put a Glock 21 45acp on layaway Im buying it from Coventrys Gun Shoppe for $474 I did some research and I think thats a good price and a really good gun for the price.
Bad decission? The XD 45 was $619 uhh maybe for a Sig Sauer but an XD psshh.

I hate Glocks, but that's mostly personal taste - I know they are fine guns. The only real disadvantage is absence of ANY safeties, but many will disagree with that.

$619 seems an awful lot for an XD-45. I got mine back in May for about $540 brand newin the local store everything inlcuded and I saw it again a few weeks ago in the same store for even cheaper.

Wow, that's a lot for an XD. I bought mine for $500 out the door, this was at a gun show and a few years ago though.

smash29: There is one Glock in .45ACP that I like. Try out a G36. Drawback is that it's a single stack so it only holds 6-7 rounds but the grip is very manageable.

I can't wait till SA makes the XDM 45. I don't know if it is in their plans but I am hoping. I have the XDM 40 and it is fantastic. I have to admit that my daily carry is a Kimber Ultra Raptor, but when I go to the range the SA gets most of my attention. I was fortunate enough to spend some quality shooting time with a XD 45 and I fell in love with it right of the bat. When my wallet gets a little fatter I will have one of them too.
