No DJEEPER used to ride a honda until a deer totalled it. :-( I would be surprised if he picked up a ninja this quick.

Why in the world did you let a deer drive it in the first place!?

You have to remember he was getting married the next week so he was too doe-eyed to drive and needed a designated dier. :)

...or designated doe-er, as in a homer simpson "Doh!"

First time OC in HR

First post but I have been lurking for awhile. I OC'd for the first time this evening at Wally World on Tidewater and then to the sub shop down the street. It was fine. No negative encounters. I will have to admit there was some apprehension in the car on the way. All things considered, it was a pleasant experience.

By the way, I really have enjoyed this site and I appreciate all the work that went into creating it.

City building carry!

I finally grew some huevos. Although I had made a point to OC pretty much everywhere except school (ODU=Safety Free Zone) and near the courthouse, I recently went all in despite my comfort level. For work I often have to go to city buildings and city hall near the court houses. My biggest reason for CC or not carrying was I wanted to reduce my probablity of running into some jackwagon cop that is unfamiliar with the law and ultimately being severely inconvenienced. In any case, I was just happy to take care of business without incedent. I even went up to the city attorneys office in VB and he and his secretary did a double take :eek: It was an experience and it with be replecated henceforth. :D

That poses an interesting question, "If someone grabs your gun (or attempts to) is that considered a deadly threat?". I would think if they get the gun away from you, you can assume they are planning on using it. If you keep possession of the gun and they are unarmed you could try to create distance between you but if they are aggressive I would think deadly force would be justified.

I had a couple of people walk past me and my girls a month or so ago and I was leery of their behavior and thinking how to defend against them if they decided to make any move. I was woefully at risk with two girls oblivious and out of arms reach.

I'm pretty sure most police consider it a threat on their life when someone tries to grab their gun, and use it as a justification of deadly force. Shouldn't be any different for a civilian.

Yes I agree it is just that one might violate (calling a ghost) HankT's postulate that shooting an unarmed person is a bad thing to do. :) Hopefully there would be witnesses to confirm the gun grab.

OC-ed to Hair on Fire for a haircut, Food Lion, Farm Fresh, China Ocean and a few other places I can't recall. No issues.

OC'd at Target on Greenbrier Parkway last week. While I was picking up a few things I needed, it started raining quite heavily, so I had to untuck my shirt to keep my pistol from getting soaked.

I was wondering, what do OC'ers without a CHP do in that situation? Is there an exception for inclement weather?

They OC. :) (and clean their gun when they get home)

The only section I saw regarding inclement weather was if you were hunting with the pistol you were allowed to cover it to protect it from inclement weather.

6. Any person actually engaged in lawful hunting, as authorized by the Board of Game and Inland Fisheries, under inclement weather conditions necessitating temporary protection of his firearm from those conditions, provided that possession of a handgun while engaged in lawful hunting shall not be construed as hunting with a handgun if the person hunting is carrying a valid concealed handgun permit;

It is a little muddy though. So if a game warden stops you in bad weather and you are CC-ing he assumes you are hunting with that pistol unless you have a valid CHP.

I kept a sandwich bag in my car always when OC'ing and sometimes an extra one when it was raining that day or I knew. So I would just place it over the gun and 100% see through. :)

well i took off at noon yesterday and had to take my Sentra to the Meineke in Grafton, parents live right across the street so i went by there and got in my Rail buggy and OCed while cruising around yorktown. stopped by DJEEPERs bike shop, Wawa, Winfrees, and then back to Meineke. No problems at all, the mechanic at Meineke even told me it was a nice 1911. it was a beautiful day for a cruise.005 - Copy (3).jpg

OCd to Advance Auto in Suffolk, Bier Garden in Portsmouth, then spent the rest of the evening walking around the festivities by the water in downtown P-town. Watched some amazing fireworks displays. Lots of LEO and Homeland security. No issues, no looks, great time. 5 of us in the crowd and 3 OCd.

Yes. I was only there to enjoy the evening festivities. There were a bunch of ships lit up that looked great.

On topic: OCd to the local Chinese restaurant and around on my motorcycle a bit.

Must be chinese week....

OC to Eddys Express Chinese/American in Portsmouth, Va. I know everyone there including the drivers. Hung out for a little bit. Talked about work & cars. One of the guys has a crown vic on 26s with redskins logos on the wheels.

Had Pizza, sweet & sour chicken, and philly cheese steak... nom nom.

Kevin Osfolk, one of the owners, is a big gun guy. He's even gone through some of the Blackwater training. I don't know that I've ever talked OC with him though. I wonder if they have any slow nights? Might be a good place for an OCDO dinner.

i've previously considered posting up The Bier Garden for an OCDO dinner, but despite their delicious menu's and conversation-inspiring pace of service;
i'd think the awesome bier list would interfere (speaking for myself) with OC'ing responsibly, or at least make me wish i had left it in the car so i can better enjoy the tasty biers.

i've been OC'ing more that work has let up. Food lion, wally-world, lowe's, Old dominion gun shop, the Armory, Bob's, chick-fil-a ... some looks, but hardly a comment. it seems like i used to get a bunch of comments when i first started OCing, but that seems to have waned. maybe i carry my self differently or just have a constant scowl that scares people into silence.:confused: ....
i got my first of recollection un-solicited compliment on my tattoos while OCing last night.:D i've had them for a few years, which makes me think that maybe my ink is just not that impressive.:p

OC-ed to Tysinger Hyundai (twice) Domino's Pizza, Food Lion, Pariser Dermatology. No issues and had a good discussion about 2A rights with the Salesman at Tysinger and a few of his associates.
