PALO, thank you for posting your perspective. Very enlightening, and educational for all (I'm looking at you, LEO bashers).

Hi welcome to the Nevada section. You need to be more informed of the police and the murderous actions they have committed in our state NV and cities here. We are not LEO bashers. We only wish them to be held to a standard. That being following the law.

What he said.

Are there good cops out there? I sure hope so but unfortunately for the most part all we are exposed to are the anti Bill of Rights, bully tactic, weight of badge throwing, jack booted thugs. When the shumer hits the rotational air handling device, I hope there are at least some on our side.

The cop said he stopped him for "walking next to a park with an AR on your back". No unless there was some ongoing incident, involving someone with an AR, the cop was way out of line. PALO I can't believe you're justifying pointing guns at people just because they have a gun and are minding their own business.

Oh and for what it's worth: Calling DTOM a "troll" is a good way to get everyone of us in Nevada to put you on ignore.

It's not even worth addressing points made by a troll who claims I have a "zest for violence"

PALO...The last thing you want to do is come on this forum and call DTOM a troll. He is more than a stand up guy. His efforts working tirelessly on behalf of freedom issues with very little fanfare is well known to all here in the NV section. If ten percent of us put forth the effort he does we would have no issues. He like all of us is at times moved to, shall we say, irritation.

We are all on the same side.

The Police:

Those who consider themselves Law Enforcement Officers are jack booted thugs in my opinion.
Those who consider themselves Peace Officers get my respect and admiration.

For those who do not comprehend the difference, it is a state of mind.

One has an us against them with a ruling class attitude. Their oath means nothing to them.
The other is the humble servant of the people, charged by the people with a duty to protect and serve. They honor their oath.

One likes to think of himself/herself in military terms (not civilians). They set themselves apart believing they are superior. Thinking they are charged with keeping the slaves in line. They stick together no matter what.
The other thinks themselves a member of a civilized, caring society. They are proud to be a member of the community and do not tolerate corruption no matter where it resides.

Outstanding post TBG! +1 Billion! Sadly, it seems we have way too many LEO's today and not very many PEACE OFFICERS left to serve their communities. :(

A cop is a cop... is a cop... is a cop... is a cop...

The cop believes his/her "authority" is like unto a "devine right." Cops view everyone as a criminal or at least a potential criminal. Their actions and reactions tell the tale. Truth be told, there is no such thing as "authority"... only that which lives in the minds of those being controlled and the controllers. Break that "chain" and cops would have a different attitude about how they go about their "job?" If that is bashing... then I'm proud to be a basher and I'll bash away at every chance.

Here is a sample of how your argument will turn out when pushed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzxV4Hfslys

Officer Ray, and the radio host insisted that I take a stand and either defend the AK open carrier, or denounce. The reality of the situation is this, Officer Ray swore an Oath to defend this persons rights, Officer Ray admits that it is hiss right to carry like he did. Yet officer Ray craps all over his Oath and Morality. and no one asks him to do it! Very enlightening.

Although one is absolutely not needed, since Officer Ray is puffing out his chest here and begging for a reasonable situation to carry the AK, here's one for you:

Perhaps the AK was inherited and it's the only firearm the person owns. Wanting to be protected, the person carries the AK.

Or, perhaps the person is very tactically proficient with the AK and prefers that firearm over a handgun with which he is not as proficient. Two examples off the top of my head.

The only unreasonable part of the discussion is Officer Ray's argument and his automatic assumption of criminal activity upon seeing a citizen open carry a long gun.
