Cheap and relatively easy to fix. Heck, MidwayUSA stocks S&W "hammer noses" (hammer mounted firing pins). Mine's circa 1988 and is a ton of fun at the range. Picked it up from a forum member (different forum) a few years ago, used to belong to a security company. I got a spare firing pin just because I heard they can (not will) break if dry-fired a lot. I've never had a problem myself, but I like to have spares. Heck, I have a spare barrel bushing for a different pistol yet I doubt I'll ever actually need it.hunter45 wrote:I got a Model 64 this morning (my first revolver).

I got a 64 from a different dealer at the Dulles gunshow a couple weeks ago.
Swapped in a DA/SA hammer for the DAO hammer.
The DA/SA hammer was hanging up real bad.
Then suddenly it was free, and dry-firing without a problem.
