I just received a lovely email from VCU, quoted verbatim below. Glad I'll be walking a block away from this intersection tonight on my way home from work, unarmed thanks to campus policy, because its safer that way.
Good thing the students weren't armed, otherwise this might have been violent
VCU PD said:In compliance with the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1988, Virginia Commonwealth University is giving notice of a robbery that occurred at 5:43 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the intersection of North Norton Street and West Marshall Street. VCU Police report that two students were robbed at gunpoint and describe the suspects as two black males with handguns. The robbery was reported to VCU Police this afternoon, and this notice and an investigation followed in a timely manner. Richmond Police are leading the investigation. Police advise students to use caution when traveling after dark, to be aware of surroundings and to use the VCU Escort Service. Anyone with information pertaining to this crime can contact the VCU Police Department at (804) 828-1234 or text VCUTIP to 274637 anonymously.
