I agree with the others here about the recorder. I grabbed a digital one at Staples, I think. It records 80 hours before it is full, so I can have it on the whole time I am out, and it fits just right in a spare magazine holder. I painted over the LED with a little black paint so the cop won't notice the bright red light that indicates that it is recording.

I consider it a must-have. Most of the time the officer tends to "forget" important details about the encounter.

And North Carolina is a one-party consent state. So as long as you know you are recording it is legal.

Yeppers I took over hubbies Phillips govibe mp3 player...it records and looks is less likely to be mistaken for a recorder :)

Thank you its not too often I hear positive comments on homeschooling....my kids are very well cross socialized as they can deal with any age group and not just there age group....which never made any scene cause socializing with a group similar to yours is not truly socialization....cant get that across to opponents of HSing lol....Public schooling did not open there minds to think outside the box hehehehe:p

Looks like the Judge did what it was intended to do ;) .... saved that man .... more power to him .... if you notice he said the cops showed up pretty quickly-10 minutes or so:shocker::shocker::shocker::shocker::confused: if thats fast then WOW!!!!!

Out at my place 10 minute would be a miracle lol. The couple times we have had them come out, 25-30 minutes is what it took them. I still need to share my story from the last time we had them come out for some trespassers.

One of the bug things I notice from the time I was 10 or maybe just a bit younger, is I found it easier to socialize with most adults rather than my age group except for homeschool kids. Every Monday for several years we had a gym and swim program at the YMCA, the age range was from 6-16, and all of us in that age range from the youngest to the oldest could play basketball, kickball, soccer, flag tag, you name and we all got along fine and had a great time together. But I found that I felt a lot older and more mature around public schoolers my age, not all of them but a lot of them. So I ended up hanging around the adults a lot of the times when I was not around homeschoolers that were my age. Don't know if you have heard, but Chick-Fil-A is pro homeschool company, they prefer to hire homeschoolers. A friend of mine that is/was homeschooled has worked for chick-fil-a for a few years and is now a manager. When my mom was head of the homeschool group, she was contacted by a owner of a chick-fil-a and asked her to send the word out that they were looking for homeschoolers to work for them.

Were close to the Sheriffs office so under 2-3 minutes isnt out of the question for us but still you never know when even 2-3 minutes will be too long.

We eat at Chic-fil-a when we visit Greensboro but thats not but once a month. Kiddos feel more comfortable with adults too....weird how they think kids there age are too immature and always talking on cell phones or playing game systems (both of which they don't have:p) instead of interacting with there friends and family. Son wont be able to work for 2 more years (daughter for 5 years lol) but I will keep them in mind for him....he has plans to go work with his Daddy at OD when he turns 18....they like to hire family:)

They enjoy archery....target shooting....camping....hiking....Karate....and skating lol....we try to get other youth involved but sometimes its hard as parents are more into luxury than anything else.

Welcome to the site... You also might want to check out the site... http://www.corneredcat.com/ This site is about women and guns, not about cats. But in a way, it's about the cornered cat in all of us. It's about the determination to get away from an attacker if you need to. It's about making the decision to say, "Not me. Not mine. Not today." And it's about the tools to make that decision stick.

I found it to be very informative

Questions...

Hello all,

My name is Johnny and I am going to jump into this thread because it seems like a decent place for newbies, like myself, to ask questions. So I will get straight to the asking...

I just purchased my first hand gun, Glock19 and have always intended to open carry. While I was at the Sheriff's office, the Special Services office said I could open carry, loaded, in my car by placing the Glock on my front seat or on my dash. I asked the same question to one of Fayetteville's LEOs and he said I need to put it in my trunk so that it is not "readily accessible."

Can anyone help me out with this?

Carry anywhere in your car you want... If you want it for personal protection, keep it close... Just not CONCEALED.. Unless you have a CHP... If you don't have a CHP and its concealed it must not be readily accessible. ie in the trunk... Cops are bad for giving opinions and not laws...

When open carrying, are their laws about my magazine carrier on my other hip. Do they also have to be exposed? Are there limits to how many mags I carry becasue Ive been carrying two, and a third loaded. I appreciate all your answers and opinions. I am new to Open Carry and want to learn as much as I can so I can open carry properly.

Magazines do not have to be open carried and there is no limit on the number of magazines you can carry.

How many magazines should I carry on me? I have a Glock 19 and that standard magazine is 15 rds. Someone told me that one magazine in the gun is perfect. Someone else told me that one in the gun, and 2 more on the other hip is what you need. How many rds do you guys/girls carry?

That's a decision everyone needs to make for themselves. I carry one spare on my basic setup, though I have carried two, and if I'm just slipping a gun on real quick, I may have none. I think if I carried a 1911, I'd be more likely to carry two spare magazines, simply due to a capacity issue at that point. With a G19, my choice would be to carry one spare.

When I carry my GP100 I carry two speedloaders.

From people I've met at various meet n eats, it seems the magic number is 20+ rounds total, however many mags it takes you.

I carry 25 rounds, in 3 magazines because my 1911 only holds 8+1. However, I feel I also have a decent tactical reload speed, so I know I am confident in reloading my gun if needed. I have practiced several times in my apt, and I also compete (not really competing, more getting an idea of how to tactically engage and tactically reload, and learn what works and what doesn't work) at USPSA matches

I always carry one extra magazine for all my pistols. Single stack mags I keep loaded to capacity, but double stacks I keep one less than capacity. I've had trouble with double stack mags seating properly when loaded to capacity with the slide closed. Most of the time it's really hard to load that last round in the magazine.
