I always thought it was the meetups that were the best opportunity for a "newb" to do their first UOC, surrounded by veterans??

My first UOC meet I didn't carry, my second one I did. Now I UOC solo on occasion.

i agree.i think the problem we are facing is all of the media attention and the enraged antis. i wish weather could permit another BBQ, i could care less if some antis came to try and ruin that, but i would feel bad if we brought a buisness into the middle of it.

im sure everyone and anyone is welcome to the March 6th meet up in palo alto.

Some people are easy to vet if they have a history. I go by my true name on several forums, am a member of several organizations, on match results on a couple of club sites, etc. Of course someone could borrow my persona.

Those without history require a bit more personal involvement. The internet is a great place for spoofing with all sorts of tools for deceit.

Seems like catch 22 to me. I would like to show up on Sat., no location,no show.
Yeah, I don't know. My belief is to open it up, but that's not my call. You live close enough to where you could get the info an hour before and you'd still be ok, but yet again not my call.

I suspect the BB's plans are to show up at the place of the event early and complain to the management as soon as the UOC'er show up. Maybye have some women with kids run screaming out the door, or have a pregnant woman have a spontaneous abortion on the salad bar. I want the video rightsfor the lady on the salad bar.

Yeah, I believe that's exactly why they are trying to keep the location hidden. It's one thing for people to show up during coffee.... it's another for them to show up during lunch.

I believe this is probably what they're doing, and have done in the past. Wouldn't be hard to get a couple people to just happen to be there to complain to the management and to be ready for their media interviews about how "scary" guns are. I don't think they'd be as overt as creating a major incident... they just want to subtley misrepresent public opinion by making sure their opinion is the one heard the most.

I concur on that thought, and was hoping to do just that. I wanted to attend one first before I take the plunge. I wear my Glock 22 daily on the ranch and use it frequently. Thanks for the opportunity. semper fi
