Good news, I just got a call from cabelas. I can pick it up anytime. Real nice I have to drive up there to get it but at least I will have it for my hunting trip to Arkansas.

Update:

My check went through, took a week. Good thing for the mandatory waiting period.
Unfortunately I lost the firearm in a flood today.

Glad to hear it....

Handy,
Guess ya should should have taught it to swim, huh?

RussF,
Good luck huntin !!!

Awhile back I bought a rimfire rifle from Cabela's.
All the background checks went thru fine,No problems there.

But to be honest I will have to think long and hard about
buying another firearm from them.

My problem with them has to do with the policy that
was mentioned earlier.
A customer can handle/inspect a gun at the counter but
the very second ownership has taken place that customer is then
walked to the door and handed the gun at the door like a bad little boy.

At least I had a little fun, when they pulled that on me...I requested the prettiest
female available and stared at her A+s the whole way....And made no secret about it.

I find it somewhat humorous that you can carry a loaded firearm in the store, but you have to be walked out if you purchase one.

I don't understand why no one just buys their firearms from WCI members who are FFL's .I know there are a few of us out there ,just ask !

I would like nothing more than training with and buying from WCI members. My first buying experience in a long long long time has been less than enjoyable.

WHERE THE **** IS A LIST!!!!

Seriously. I have searched through these threads several times trying to remember who was what and offered services when... with no luck.

How about a preferred vendor list from WCI??? Would a sticky here violate forum rules?

Maybe we should have a sticky at the top of this forum for WI FFL holders?

It would be nice to be able to do business with like-minded people.

This only encourages me to get my FFL. I have all the needed information to do it, now I just need to stop being lazy and do it.

Or you can get a Collectors license....

Get off your $200 and do it !

For most of us we won't qualify to get the 01 FFL due to zoning restrictions...ie must be a "business". But...all of us as far as I know should qualify for the 03 FFL (Collector of Curios and Relics). It is only $30 for three years and gets you all the same discounts with distributors as a dealer. It won't get you firearms that don't qualify as C&R but it is nice to have. Check out the guns available on the online distributors if you have a C&R license and you will be quite happy with what is available.

One "small" thing... Having an ffl would eliminate any "boating trips" if you know what I mean...

01 ffl can be a home business just like anybody who works from home on their PC. Thats how I do it and the home office is a tax deduction to boot.
