Bell County Sheriff's Office

Bell County Sheriff's office has a policy document that lists the policies for all employees of the Sheriff's Dept. Most of this document is pretty standard law enforcement stuff: type and style of uniforms, types of approved equipment including firearms, type of approved ammo and training requirements. All of these policies are written into one document. None of this was of any interest to KC3 until we came to the very last policy which applied to "unswore employees". These are employees of the Sheriff's office that are not law enforcement officers. You can see this section of the policy statement here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2b8sni1829rw25/page12BellCo.pdf?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR13Za_SVKRKWBc6iT8neFsR3ryXbLguUDtZBV1cwf7g2Q_ahtB7lA5oWyY
This policy is a violation of KRS 65.870. KC3 Board members contacted the Bell County Sheriff and complained about this policy. This morning we were contacted by the County Attorney of Bell County and he assured us that the policy would be rescinded.
This issue was sent to us by a KC3 member. This is how we find out about most of the issues that we work to correct. Keep your eyes open around your city and county for any signs or notices posted that are about guns. Send them to KC3. We can't fix them if we don't know about them. We will argue with your government so you don't have to. We never expose the name or identity of the person that sends these things in.
