LOL! I agree completely, no sense whatsoever! Trust me, it is the law. In WI, the vehicle is NOT an extension of your home. It makes us :banghead: everyday.

The only LEGAL means of carry is OC and you can't OC in a bar without permission from the bars owner, can't OC in a GFSZ, can't OC in a state park, can't OC in a public building.

Having a loaded gun in a car is technically CC.

Just had a lady dragged out by 3 (or 6, depending on the story) for having a loaded gun in a zippered gun case on her front seat. It was an illegal search that got the charges thrown out but if she had consented to the search, it would of been a valid arrest.

Here's a memo from a DA that is stopping enforcing some laws http://www.co.jackson.wi.us/html/district%20attorney/Documents/McDonald%20vs.%20City%20of%20Chicago.pdf

So according to the DA he is basically saying you don't have to do all that tedious in and out unload and hide bs. As far as cc goes, he also says he will no longer enforce laws against cc. I wonder if this decision (SCOTUS) would pre empt laws regulating cc. Maybe move us closer to constitutional carry like AZ.

We have high hopes of going from CC only with big restrictions to Constitutional Carry in one fell swoop. WI constitution supports RKBA and we are pushing hard. The state Republican platform officially supports Constitutional Carry and the POS Democratic governor is not running for re-election so we have a decent chance.

That is what bothers me about WI law. Every time I get into the car, I have to remove the weapon from my holster, have to drop the magazine, drop the cartridge from the barrel (we carry category 0) and then put the handgun and magazine into the case and then the case in the vehicle.

If I'm running errands, I can get in and out of my car 10 times! Imagine the civilians watching me get out of the car, pull the case out, put it on my lap, remove the gun, put the magazine in, rack the slide and then put in my holster.

+1, I hate that!!!!

dpsd204, how would you handle a situation involving a 19 year old open carrying? i get hasseled all the time until a state trooper or higher ranking officer gets involved to tell the officer it is legal for me to carry.

According to LA law anyone over 17 YOA can legally possess (and thusly OC) a handgun. So, it's no different than any other adult...

That being said, maturity is an issue. That doesn't refer to age however, we all know our share of "adults" we wouldn't trust with a potato gun. OC isn't for everyone. As with all freedoms it walks hand in hand with responsibilities.

Shannon's post is self-contradictory

In his post, Officer Womack proclaims most officers are supporters of the 2nd amendment.
Either he's woefully ignorant of the true meaning and purpose of the 2nd, \
or he's lying.
Which is it?

The founders clearly were aware of and warned of the dangers of a standing army. It is for this reason you see no mention of armed state agents running freely throughout the Republic.
Today's police departments, which didn't exist at the founding, are the very "standing army" the founders warned us to be vigilant against.
