Sorry to back peddle, but after the 2A March, my car lost the fuel pump. Thanks to Good year in Lansing for sending me home that afternoon. I have walked the dog a few times. The kids, 8 or so of them, at the school wanted to pet the ball of energy.

Ate at Holidays on Stadium, Marchinos on Zeeb. Went to TCF bank & Lenard's Barber on Stadium.

Just still Open all around around Ann Arbor.

Hopefully it wasn't a corporate goodyear. They're an otherwise good company, but as far as I know they prohibit weapons on their premises. :uhoh:

OC'd at the Grandville Cabela's while picking up some 9mm, .40sw, and .22 mag. First time I've seen ammo in stock there. Went to my daughter's play at the school district's fine arts center in town. No problems.

Well the one in Ann Arbor, use to have the sign, not anymore. The manager of the one I was at did not chase me out.

Yooperlady and I were out and about today and I OC'd as per normal at...

Greg and Lous restaruant in Owosso... good food.. great friendly service... and even friendly patrons...

Wal Mart also in Owosso where we did some shopping and a little friendly chatting with an employee... and some young teenage girls noticed my sidearm with great interest. Nothing was said yet it was obvious they were fascinated by seeing a gun on the hip of someone not in uniform wandering around shopping just as normally as they were.

Anyway... just another day where nothing of note happened as we went about our exceedingly everyday ordinary boring lives while I was exercising the right to keep and bear arms.

As it should always be.........

Okay so, OC'd to Schoolcraft college so my brother could sign up for classes.

Not really any strange looks, but as I was sitting in the registration area I noticed one of the school police officers on the other side of the window staring at me. As we were leaving, he followed us outside of the front door and I heard a "How ya doin?"

I figured since I was the guy with the gun, he was talking to me. I turned around, expecting to get a barrage of "What the hell are you doing with that, blah blah etc" but he was actually extremely polite.

I had called last week to let them know I'd be there OCing and it turns out he was the officer I had talked to. He asked me for my name and age, and kept saying "You don't have to tell me, really, but it would be cool if you did" right after each question. I gave him my name and everything and told him I was just leaving.

He actually reminded me that if I didn't have a CPL I had to be careful about getting into my car with my firearm because he didn't want me to get into any trouble, haha. Nice guy.

They followed behind me about 40 feet for a minute or two until I got in my car and then went back to their rounds.

Overall, it was much calmer than I had expected. I thought I'd be getting a few people who had something to say to me, but nobody really cared.

Open carried at Walmarks and Miejers And Hometowm pharmacy Mobile Gas Station. No problem. I went to pay my bill at Charter bill at the bottom of the doors It said, No concealable weapons allow. Does that mean open carry is allow or not? I took the Boy down to department of Human Service and no sign on the down but clear across the room on the bulletin board it said no weapons. I thought it had to be on the door as one walk in.

Doesn't have to be posted in any particular place, in any particular way, nor does it even "need" to be posted. If the establishment wanted to charge you with trespassing, they would need to make sure any notice was very obvious and yet you ignored it. In most instances, the law requires that they must inform you that your presence would constitute trespass. The more they can use to substantiate that requirement, the more likely they are going to be successful. My experience is that this is usually done by asking you to leave and telling you firearms are not welcome.

Criminal Trespass to Property is covered in sections 750.546 to 750.552c of the Michigan Criminal Code. Trespass includes the general prohibition against trespass on the lands of another; willful trespass by cutting or destroying property or by entering the improved land of another with intent to injure it; trespass upon cranberry, huckleberry or blackberry marshes; trespass on vineyards, orchards, gardens or medicinal plants; unlawful dumping of garbage; trespass on a state correctional facility; and entering or remaining in a key facility. I would read these sections if you have any further questions.

OCed at Hungry Howies in Detroit this afternoon, no problems no issues. Staff was very polite and professional.

A few weeks ago I was OCing at Mongolian Chinese Buffet in Warren and I was questioned by this middle age black woman dining with her husband and children. Now mind you I had been inside the establishment a good 45 minutes and had gotten up to go to the buffet about three or four times. This goes to show you how much the average person pays attention to their surroundings. Her three children saw me as well as her husband. And just as I was finishing my final plate I heard her blurt out loudly “Who got guns!?” as she craned her neck in my direction; while everyone else at her table silently looked at me with guilty eyes for heaping what they thought was embarrassment upon me. Mind you this entire time, the children had been or were cool as cucumbers, very nonchalant as we navigated around each other while getting our food at the buffet and they didn’t bat an eye. Now suddenly mama bear wanted to make a scene. I smiled and replied “Yes, it me. But I‘m sitting down so you cannot see.” After finishing my plate and as I was about to rise to go pay my bill at the register, I announced to her, “Now you can look.” I rose and turned toward the register and she cried out “Goodness, who are you? Are you a cop or something? Smiling, I replied, “No ma’am I’m just a private citizen who is open carrying, that‘s all.” She rose from her table and followed behind me. Eyeing me closely and in an accusatory tone said “No you’re not! Is that a bulletproof vest!?” I turned to her and replied, “Yes it is.” You are a cop! she said triumphantly as if she were a winner on some TV game show. Doing a poor job of holding in my laughter at this point I replied, “No, I am not.” Curiosity and concern then crept into her face and voice as she asked, “So, is someone after you? Snickering and shaking my head, I replied “No.” She then asks “Are you wanted or something?” Again, I replied “No. Ma’am, I’m a security officer.” That answer finally seemed to satisfy her. The Asian manager then interjected and echoed what I had just told the woman which was that I’m a security officer, he then handed me my change and thanked me for my patronage and I walked out the door.

This lady showed me something though, and that is how insular the gun community is about its ownership of firearms which thereby makes it easy for the mainstream media to portray us law-abiding gun owners as caricatures. This woman could only envision me as either a LEO or a felon, she wrestled with the idea that the average law-abiding citizen could keep and bear arms in public, in such shameless fashion, in this day and age. It was then that I was reminded I was in the deep end of the pool, not because I owned numerous firearms, but because I was among the least bashful about the fact that I am a gun owner. And it was then that I truly understood what Rick Ector meant when he said to me “You open carry guys are the vanguard, the very tip of the spear in terms of gun ownership.” We bring the subject of gun ownership out of the closet.

Oh yeah I forgot that the same day I went to Mongolian Buffet, It was warm out so I decided to place my coat in the trunk, and just as I was about to get into my vehicle an unmarked black Ford Crown Victoria with three plainclothes LEOs inside rode down my street, they slowed to a stop beside me when they saw all the guns and ammo around my waist. The LEO sitting in the back seat remarked “Wow it’s like THAT now?” I replied “Yeah. but you guys would know that more than anyone else now wouldn’t you?” The front passenger LEO responded “Well, we just don’t see too many people standing around with two guns on them that’s all.” I wasn’t about to fall for that verbal trap so they could slap me with a loitering ticket. In Detroit there are stories of people being cited for loitering while sitting on their own front porch, so I didn’t put anything past these LEOs, after all the city was flat broke. I quickly replied “Officers, I’m not standing around, I’m about to get into my vehicle. Now is there anything else I can help you with? Do you want to see some I.D.?” There was a slight pause and then one of them said “No.” and they pulled off.”

Had breakfast sunday at the Olympic restaurant on Court st. just west of Center rd. in Burton. Great place and great food. It was very busy, chatted with the owner some and no issues. Then we moved on to Art Van furniture store, again no issues. Collettes antique and vintage mall at Belsey and Davison rd. The owners are great people too and support 2A. Cool place if you like finding stuff you don't really need. Something for everyone there. They have a custom leather guy there and he does nice work, from gun belts to holsters, wallets and lots of other stuff. Did lunch at Tellys coney island on Miller rd. While I was eating in walks 2 plain clothes LEOs. Hostess walks them right by me to seat them and I see one of them look right at my pistol, look at me, and continues on with out missing a step. NO BIG DEAL.
