Easter morning before the sun was high in the sky, I ventured out to Shoney's at Broad and Skipwith. Breakfast has never been better - everything was hot and fresh + the staff was accommodating as usual. Went to pay my bill and AuSnit! No wallet, no credit or debit cards and only a couple of stray dollars in cash. Confirmed via phone with DoubleTap that my billfold was still there. Fortunately my history with this venue is great - they said no problem, we'll settle up after you go get what you need. DoubleTap hinted that it would have been nice if they had comped the meal. Problem is I don't like to see mistakes or negligence rewarded - especially my own.
Knowing we were going to be at DoubleTap's mother's home for an early evening Easter meal, I went to KFC on Broad Street in Tuckernuck Square to tide me over. Never again will I grace them with my presence.
Had to order 3 times to get the food right, in accordance with the printed ticket. Original recipe was so hard that I had to break off a lot to eat it. Add to that that no employee was wearing plastic gloves. One even had a heavily bandaged hand. They handled food and packaging with the same lack of caring.
Before my order was taken, two Henrico officers came in picked up their food, nodded at my OC and went about their business.
OCd at the evening meal. Most of the extended family understands and accepts OC/right to self defense. Nice as she is, there is one who may never really get it.
