Ok here goes.
I was asked by a friend to help place a set of stairs he fabricated at the new "H mart" grochiery store in lakewood wa. It is on the side walk outside the building. This building is in the south tacoma way mall center, whatever its called. There are a bunch of companies in the shopping facility. I have actually met the owner several times.
I walked from my truck accross the parking lot, wasn't going toward the door or anything and a security guard that "H Mart has hired to help direct traffic while the store is being worked on yells at me and signals me to cover up. I said why? he said "you have a license right?" to which I said yes but that isn't relavent. He says you need to cover up so people don't call us and say a guy has a gun. I said tell them that it is OK and legal to carry. If I was to enter the store you are guarding you could ask me to leave or cover up. However I know you have not been authorized by "property owners name" and are hired by H Mart. You have no authority in the parking lot of the shopping center. to which he calls over a Korean gentleman that I believe was trying to act as if he didn't speak english well. First guys boss. He told me you can't just carry a gun around, and demanded my drivers license and gun permit number. I informed him he had no authority, and then he said he would call the police. I told him to go ahead and I handed him a open carry flyer and said it might be a good read.
The company was RAVEN SECURITY ENFORCEMENT. From what I can tell from the DOL, the owner also owns a tae kwon do studio in university place. The guys I was dealing with had no interest in listening to anything and as I walked away the guy yelled to the other to remember my face incase I did something else.
I am thinking the main guy was the owner of the secuirty company. Should I contact the owner of the property and let him know?
