So, after work I went to the gas station actually, the Kroger gas station at Poplar Plaza to be exact. No one even batted an eye.
Then, went into the Kroger at the Poplar Plaza complex and bought a few small items. Again, no one so much as looked funny at me. No comments.

Then, the big one, as I stopped at the Costco on Germantown Parkway just off of I-40 on my way home to Arlington. Bought a little over $100 worth of stuff. Walked all over the store and again, no comments, no funny looks, no adverse reactions at all.

I have open carried for 3 years no since moving here to Shelby County from Mobile County Alabama. I did not try to make the gun blend in with my attire. I wore a white T-shirt with light colored jeans, my Glock 23 carried in a Blackhawk SERPA level II holster with a spare magazine carried in a Blackhawk mag carrier on my left hip.

In the three years now that I have open carried here, I have had no bad reactions at all. I have had a grand total of three comments, all good. One was from an on duty Shelby County Sheriffs deputy who asked me if I was also a deputy and when I told him no he smiled and told me it is nice to see citizens taking their own safety seriously.
The other was from a guy behind me in line at Subway who asked what model my Glock was. When I told him it was a 23, he patted his concealed gun on his right hip and said he prefered the 19.
The third was from a man who asked me what kind of holster I was using and asked me where he could get one like it.

Open carry is pretty well excepted around here.

Nice to hear that that is the attitude most have. I have only seen one person carrying since I've been here (January), and that was at Orgill Park in Millington when we worked the triathlon. He was a fellow ham radio operator. We were there providing comms for the bike and run.

Can't wait to get my app and get the waiting period started. I have military range training (just gotta get the paperwork for it), so that part is done.

TN is great. I OC there when visiting my brother. He lives in Dover. Stationed at campbell. He is supposed to get his permit when he gets back from Iraq. Went to quite a few places. Had no negative vibes.
