Thats funny. You say "lets have less gun laws" and then say "make more gun laws" in the same sentence.

Why? How about zero gun laws and have the punishment fit the crime regardless of what type of weapon was used?

I feel like we are talking about the same thing. I'm not saying my ideas(or words for them) are perfect, but I do want to help find a way to end all infringement.

Anybody have a better idea?

Call or write your various representatives at the local, state and federal levels and ask them to begin repealing gun laws. Perhaps have a few suggestions for them of where to start. A good starting place at the federal level would be to repeal the GFSZ law.

+1 There is no such thing as gun crimes it is an inanimate object. When they make enhancements and stiffer penalties for crimes committed with a gun it is a defacto demeaning of the same crime committed without.

I would say a rape is a rape is a rape and making someone pay more for a rape committed at gun point than one committed without one is saying to the person who was raped your rape wasn't so bad.

Personally I would like to get rid of the "crime against" society idea that does nothing to compensate victims.

Just like blaming: cars for killing pedestrians, spoons for making Rosie O'Donut fat, pencils for mizspelleen wurdz, alcohol for making you drive drunk, and short skirts for causing rape, the blaming of guns is the easy way out for the antis. They'd rather vilify an inanimate object (and by proxy, us peaceful, armed LAW-ABIDING citizens) for despite their choice to be easy to victimize (easy prey, "soft targets", unaware, etc.) and for their own violent urges than confront the true predators.
