I believe that this was a staged event. Look at the UN treaty that is supposed to have some action taken on it in one week.

I believe this guy is a government stooge plain and simple. It benefits those in power by giving them an excuse to attack white gun owners. The Zimmerman case failed to do that once people learned that he was not white.

Besides at movie at that time of night. Why would there be many children at all? I, as a child, never went to a movie that late especially during the week, my dad had to work and he would never have taken any of us at that time of 'day'.

This whole thing reeks of government staged event.

Wow, let's get our tin foil hats out...

So you believe this was done by the government? Please say no, and tell me I misinterpreted your comment.

I know the government to be very corrupt, but I think the idea of the Government behind this is pushing it. Yet people in the government wont ever waste an opportunity that some nut job causes for their own political purpose.

P.S. I am not of a religious bent, but nonetheless, here's a short Voter's Prayer - ;)
Dear (insert your favorite Supreme Being here),
Please save us from demonstrating our stupidity - again - during the upcoming Presidential election. Thanks so much!

And if that prayer doesn't work, then try another Higher Power:

Oh holy NRA,

Please save us from those who would use the legislative process to achieve ANY restrictions on ANYTHING we want to do with our firearms. Protect us from the ideas we don't like and absolve us from ALL responsibility for ANYTHING icky that happens with our firearms.

Guys, This just happened.. Think of the family's and friends and victims of this horrible event, think of what huge road block that was just thrown in our way because of some crazy psycho, but please keep them in your prayers, i think personally its a little soon for all of this. This is very much hitting home for me being i found out not to long ago that one of my very good friends that lives in Aurora was there and wounded last night. I'm in contact with his family and am figuring out a way to get some time off and get up there to help in any way i can. *puts his tin foil hat on* it was not the government it was some crazy guy thinking he was the "joker" please guys keep the family's and victims in your prayers tonight this is rough for the entire state of Colorado and the country.

According what I've heard here you are pretty wrong. A few people claim they wouldn't. A few more criticize those that say they would.

I promise you this, I would much rather die trying to stop a lunatic than die cowering in the corner hoping he shoots someone else instead of me or shot in the back running away.

I have more faith in my fellow human beings and in my fellow gun owners and open carriers than that. There are folks entering things on their keyboard that I believe, after reflection, will come to a different conclusion. Unless and until I am proven wrong, I will continue to believe that there are far more good, courageous people in our little community, not just OCDO, than there are of the other kind.

Still, this is not about us. I will be attending a Bible study tonight with my wife and our Chinese friends. We will be offering prayers for the victims of this insane atrocity and their families and friends.

If you are a believer, offer prayers to whatever Deity you believe in for these folks. If you are not, at least try to send good thoughts their way.

I was being partly sarcastic. Open carry of handguns was banned and now the legislature has a bill pending to ban open carry of long guns. I am guessing this shooting will be used to justify the long gun open carry ban.

I only live in CA part time. I moved my residency to a more free state last year.

If I'm not mistaken. Open carry was not banned entirely. Just in incorporated cities. I believe there are are some places you can still open carry.

So when are the media asshats going to start chattering on for days and weeks about violent movie genres and violent comic book/graphic novel genres?

I would hope that the media shows restraint out of respect for the victims and their families. But I will not hold my breath for very long, as they usually cannot contain themselves.

We can play the what if game and see who is more ballys than the other guy, but unless you have been in combat or as a police officer involved in a shooting you really have no idea how you will react. Yet even people who have been in some form of combat have a better idea than most what to expect or how to react in a firefight but still you just never know. The adrenaline dump is nothing to ignore like a number of people I talk to that have never experienced this effect and if your not ready for it will get you killed faster than you might expect...

Excellent point and while I'm no expert on the subject I agree. I'd certainly like to think I would have made a move on this guy, armed or not.
I won't and can't say I know that for a fact. I'd certainly be ashamed afterward if I had only hid/ran though.

You think this is random? They didn't succeed in AZ, they had to try again.

Howdy Pard!
Are you familiar with Occam's Razor?
He has a genius level intellect; and the obvious is that only a very fine line separate genius from madness.
The man was as crazy as an outhouse rat.

The fact that he rigged up bombs and booby traps at his apartment building has no bearing on firearms banning conspiracy theories.
It doesn't fit the paradigm.

So, I absolutely reject the notion this was some sort of false flag thing. There are very real issues to consider in the aftermath of this tragedy.
The reality issues are enough that we can pass on fanciful speculations.

Blessings,
M-Taliesin
