I have to wonder why a guy like this would even be considered for volunteering for WCI. His comments and behavior in this forum alone shine a negative light on anything he does.

Everyone wonders why it always seems to be the same people at the picnics and events. This is why! No one wants to meet people like him, plain and simple. The new people are just smart enough to see it here first and not subject themselves to it in person.

You see the same people because it's the same people getting your invites to the events time after time, if you want to see new people perhaps you should think about a different advertising approach, just a thought. I personaly found this site on my own, im sure alot the same. I have only seen events posted here, not saying they arent posted elsewhere.
It occurs to me that you will meet people like "him" no matter where you go.

Ahhh don't listen to Gleason. Theres different guys showing up to functions all the time.

Serpent, Phred and I signed up 20 new guys into WCI in Wausau a few weeks ago and now we are having a meet and greet at Culvers this weekend. Up until this time Wausau was a non-starter for OC and now we hopefully kickstarted a movement up there which will snowball into a steady group of supporters.

Gleason can sit behind his box and snipe like that because he never goes anywhere or does anything.

While I have a pain deep in my soul over saying this.... I agree with Spartacus.

Not about the 'don't listen to Gleason', however, we have had lots of new people. Delavan had several new people, the Baraboo picnic had several newbies. We are growing and Spartacus just annoys people online. In person he's a big pussycat (vomit a little in my mouth).

Lots or several? I have asked in the past how many members there are in WCI and I have yet to get an answer.
Regardless, if people come into this forum to browse and maybe get some questions answered and they have to put up with the likes of him, more than likely they won't show up at an event. There is no good impression given to new members here when the insults are constantly flying and if those don't work then he results to bullying. It is pathetic.
Why would I go to an event and stand there and play nice to a jerk that has insulted me at every turn? Not happening here. So to insure that there is no negative attention brought to an event I will just stay away. Some day he may not be so lucky though. He may find someone who won't care about shedding a negative light on the event and then he may be sorry for his comments although it will be too late by then.

It seems to me that there are plenty of people on this forum who like nothing more then to sit at the comp and argue with about anything they can. I cannot say for I have not met spartacus but I believe someone else here said he was different in person. I believe you could still show support by attending an event even if he is there, just learn who he is and ignore him. If you took this attitude towards everything then you would likely find yourself hiding in your house in fear of confrontation. Just a thought.

Trust me, I am not defending him whatsoever. I think his actions on this forum does not help our cause. I personally cannot think of a thread that he has contributed to the discussion.

However, I won't let that stop me from doing stuff for fear that I'll run into him. I would hope I am mature enough and he's mature enough to no start something. There are plenty of other people (usually) to talk to or hang around with. Springfield 1911 is usually there, he's a upright, non confrontational guy, McX is a hoot, The Don looks just like his avatar, MKeGal is fun, Jason and his girlfriend, you can get a tour of Protias's cop Hyundai, these are just a few of the people.
Oh yeah, Hubert is entertaining all on his own, just don't start him on the lap dances! Nik is an imposing figure but overall a soft spoken guy as well.

Heck, you can hang out with me and we'll just exchange Spartacus war stories!

I have made 3 Starbucks meet ups, 2 Culvers, 1 picnic. I don't recall any cross words being exchanged by anyone at any of the events.

I plan on going to the Janesville gathering on the 16th. We'll see where else I go.

Protias's cop Hyundai
That's what the police tried to accuse me of. My car is hardly a cop car. ;)

If it were an undercover cop car, why would there be antennas on it? If it were an unmarked cop car, why would they choose a Hyundai that can go from 0-60 in a whopping 8.4 seconds?

As you can probably tell, I'm still a bit cross with them thinking I'm trying to impersonate a cop. I guess it was the "totality of the circumstances" that I have a car with antennas on it and I carry the only legal way possible.

Sorry, didn't mean to reopen the wound.

I was just trying to impress on Mr Gleason that he can stay away from Spartacus and do many more things at some of these gatherings.

permission to carry in bars

How does this exception work, exactly?

Could the owner of a bar post a sign saying that OC is allowed in his establishment, essentially granting permission to anyone who wishes to OC for as long as he owns that bar?

Just wondering what the specifics are about this with respect to the current laws.

Thanks.

So posting a sign like that wouldn't work. thanks Doug.

I just wanted to set the record straight, just in case there are other LEOs or news reporters reading this. We all know how they like to twist words.

Well we will have to see how he behaves around SAK at up coming events since he has designated himself to be the law at OC events.

Not by date or just any manager.

Note too that the bar owner/manager is authorizing the use of the handgun. Sounds like additional liability to me.

Wisconsin DOES NOT Prohibit LongGuns in Bars, ONLY Handguns.
That is an odd exception that Wisconsin did not employ for Public Buildings.
What brought that about?

I got no issues with SAK coming to our events but I told him to leave his bag of T-Shirts and literature in Illinois if he does attend. He also definitely needs to defer to Nik, Hubert, Auric or one of our own spokesmen instead of hogging media attention for ICarry like he did in Delavan.

That article actually made me angry because they quoted Shaun extensively about all the good ICarry had done for Wisconsin and then toward the end it mentioned Nik Clark as "also attending". Hell with that.
