I was stopped at a light yesterday (motorcycle) and the guy in the truck next to me yells out, "Is that a SIG?", "No mate, it's an old Ruger P85, all steel, not plastic." He replied, excitedly, that he liked steel too and the light changed. Another positive interaction with the public. I love this place.

They thought they had aluminum frames. Better check yours with a magnet you might have a very rare one.

And correct you are. Steel slide, aluminum frame and Duct tape over the serial number. My apologies. It still weathers well here and it gets a huge amount of exposure.

We shared a meal with the Canadian part of the family last night. They told a story of a shootout in Vancouver recently. One commented that as soon as the shooting started, he wondered where I was. They all know I am always armed. This incident could have been worse for them. Sad to be a subject and not a Free Man.

Thought I saw the police hassling a man over OC today.

It did look like a LG or an AR pistol. I am not 100% sure. It was along meridian between the hardware store and I5. Some time around 1020 or 1030 or so.

If you know who to communicate with to get any details about what happened.

It looked like the man was stripping a magazine into a plastic bag and had what appeared to be an AR varient on his left. The police had their pistols holstered (two that I saw).

Well the actual circumstance was like this:
Reported: Aug 20 2015 10:17AM
Location: 3700 BLK MERIDIAN ST
Offense: SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE
Case #: 15B34927

Officers responded to a report of a male carrying a rifle on Meridian which he was attempting to conceal in a bag. Officer located the male who had a Paint Ball replica of a AR-15 which he was taking to a friends house so they could go out shooting.

So........... he was attempting to "hide/conceal" an LG and someone called 911

I was in a thrift shop yesterday (value village) looking at a nice hat when a gentleman came up to me and said...." I don't think I feel comfortable with you carrying a gun in here. I don't know what kind of training you have had. It makes me uncomfortable." ( said in a whiny voice) I knew, right off the bat, that this would be a useless conversation so I just stared at him for a moment, until he started to fidget and I replied......."you'll get over it." and walked away.

I will stand for conversation, but it has to be a two way street. I had no inclination to attempt to convert an old hippy who is afraid of a weapon.

On the other side of the coin, I was stopped by a young man who was hungry for knowledge. He was very interested in OC and I directed him to the site.

I think I said something stupid in front of MSG L, and I got that stare. It was a little...... disconcerting. Of course, he knows I am an idiot, so then he just laughed and carried on.

Stopped in barnes&noble yesterday. Young lady at check-out asked if I would recommend a range. I asked what she was shooting and she replied that she has not yet purchased a weapon and was looking for training. Gave her a brochure I had in my saddlebag and offered free education with other females in the group. She appeared elated, we will see if she follows through.

I regularly go out jogging in my neighborhood in Maple Fallskigrad.

I've seen the local sheriff's deputy and a couple of Border Patrol agents. They all wave at me, and I wave back or I wave at them and they wave back. I've never had any issues.

It's not like I'm carrying a small handgun either. I'm carrying a Beretta 92.

Progress has been made in this area. I come into contact with Sheriffs and BPD officers on almost a daily basis. I hang around the jail waiting for my Sweet Baboo to get off work. We then take a bit of a long bike ride home. The LEOs are in and out of the jail and just a few are surprised or taken aback when they see a Legally Armed Citizen in their midst. I never have any problems in this area(anymore) in B'ham.

Glad the LEOs in your AO accept you for what you are.

I was in winco yesterday, picking up salad fixings and a bit of coffee to feed my addiction. As I walked along a gentleman saw me and a great look of surprise came over his face. "Damm, Thats a big gun!" he exclaimed. He immediately told me that he was concealing (why do they do that?) a .380. I replied that a .380 will still do the job and that I liked my "Big slab of metal" because it deters and doesn't not hide. We went about our separate ways.
