Went to Moore's BBQ for dinner
Moore's BBQ is the best and try to go every time I am down visiting my parents who live in Trenton. Nothing quite like Moore's flounder!
Went to Moore's BBQ for dinner
I went to the Mum fest and only had one person talk to me. He was asking if I like my FNX-45 and that he was thinking about buying one. There sure were a bunch of hoodlums there.

I think they put crack in their BBQ, can't get enough.
Matter of fact, I was there again on Friday and a younger guy who worked there asked me about my pistol and permit requirements. He looked a little surprised when I told him I didn't have a permit and had no plans to get one.
Which of course got my wife back on the "see, most people don't understand why you hate permits".
She still supports me, she just doesn't understand.
Too bad we didn't run into each other since you never showed up for any of my meet-n-greets.
LOL. I will make it up there one day.
I agree though, by the time I left on Saturday there were a lot of hoodlums just hanging out, nothing happened, but you definitely need to be aware of the potential for a "flash mob".
I was there Saturday towards the evening. Around where the curve was near the water was the most "gangsta" looking folks. Also some of the rudest people I have ever been around. Had one person bump into my wife and I though she was going to go ape**** because she was pushing our son in the stroller. She was packing too but she prefers to put her pistol in her purse.
Went to Party City for my Halloween costume (which is going to be bad ass) and I think only one or two people even noticed I was OCing. They were pretty crowded so I'm surprised there wasn't more reaction from more people, but that's what we want right for OC to be the norm?
Went to the Wicked Superstore in Havelock to look for a costume for my 11 yo son.We weren't in there for more than a minute when a guy who worked there came up to me:
Guy: "The owner wanted me to ask if you were law enforcement"
I'm wearing workboots, jeans , a long sleeve black t-shirt with a Spartan helmet on the front and MOLON LABE on the sleeves and an old Penguins ballcap, so I don't look like a cop.
Me: "No, just a normal guy"
"She said if you're not then you need to put the pistol in your truck"
"Then we're leaving"
"Oh"
"I've been to a lot of different places and never had a problem"
"It's her property"
"I know, guess we'll go somewhere else"
"Sorry about this"
"I don't care, we're going"
So we left and drove to the Halloween store in Morehead. I wish I could have taken a reciept back to the Havelock store, but my son is getting into the too cool for halloween stage and we ended up not buying anything.
I think I handled it OK, didn't want to get into a debate and chance her calling the cops. I do have to mention my wife was very supportive and even explained it to my son when he said he wanted to stay there so we wouldn't have to drive to Morehead.

Ron, nice job with your handling of this and taking your money elsewhere, tho for future reference according to NC statutes if you had refused to disarm the clerk can not ask you leave...
§ 14-159.13. Second degree trespass.
(a) Offense. - A person commits the offense of second degree trespass if, without authorization, he enters or remains on premises of another:
(1) After he has been notified not to enter or remain there by the owner, by a person in charge of the premises, by a lawful occupant, or by another authorized person; or
(2) That are posted, in a manner reasonably likely to come to the attention of intruders, with notice not to enter the premises.
(b) Classification. - Second degree trespass is a Class 3 misdemeanor. (1987, c. 700, s. 1; 1993, c. 539, s. 102; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14(c).)

and when johnny law arrives, you explain you have not be asked to leave by a person in charge of the premises and then politely walk out of the store...

solus said:i am uncertain how you made this leap of faith based on your apparent lay person's interpretation...
solus said:do they have internet access which they allow those being booked to use so he can let's us know how it went?? i am sure it was a fun...
Very bad advice IMO. Your not knowing the status of the one directing you to leave won't save your bacon. Walking away from a LEO w/o first confirming you are free to leave is foolish at best. AND you will probably have just confirmed with you "explaination" that you were in fact asked to leave - that would make it double dumb.
Ron chose the best course of action. If he wants to follow through with a complaint to the store management, he knows how to do that too.
The owner was sitting at the front desk when we came in and the guy said she sent him, I have no reason to think he was lying as they were talking before he came to me.
As it is the owner that had the problem, I will not be filing a complaint and will not go back.
Nope, didn't miss your compliment to Ron.im sorry did you'al miss my first sentence of my post??
Ron, nice job with your handling of this and taking your money elsewhere
the second part was FYI of NC's trespass statutes...
now the other part of that...
sorry, if the owner had the problem, they should speak up and sending a flunky quote: guy who worked there came up to me: Guy: "The owner wanted me to ask if you were law enforcement" unquote to do their bidding does not meet the spirit and intent of the statute quoted. this is especially true if the owner saw Ron walk in.
additionally, nowhere in Ron's posting did he get confirmation it was in fact the owner who wished him gone or rather the bravado of the 'guy' showing the 'boss' how macho he was.
I am sorry if that sounds harsh but the truth of the matter is police are on private property and the owner not the flunky will have to press charges.
finally, since you have not done anything wrong...the police private property have no reason to detain you nor question you - so you are free to walk away...
but IANA and like everyone else out here conjectured based on experience and citing the applicable statutes. for a 3rd degree misdemeanor.
