Very biased report.

Somebody doing nothing illegal or threatening causes the schools to lock down, really?

Didn't you knnow that the gun might jump out of a holster or jump of his back (for a slug rifle) and start shooting up the place by itself. One would also think they would lock down the school if an airplane flys over the school just to prevent another 911 or if a car drives by since the driver might be drunk and run kids over in the playground......

Sense the Sarcasim?

Yes that was me (on the opposite side of the street of the school)and yes I apologized to parents, that being said I didn't do anything illegal and if I were to walk past again and the schools went into lock down that is still something that they are choosing to do. I live inbetween 8 different schools and I'm not giving up my rights to please the masses. My reasons for carrying are my own safety and for normalization of a legal activity and to show everyone good guys carry guns. The schools are now scared of legal activities and good citizens.. Peace love and rights to all.

Do you know why they don't like you carrying your gun around a school?

Answer: Because the schools are trying to brain wash kids into thinking guns are bad and they should be eliminated; this way in a few generations they will have the votes change the US Constitution and ban Americans from weapons. Then the gobberment can declare marshal law and remove the rest of Americans rights like free speech.

Your screwing it up by showing them guns are not evil, you are going against the school propaganda machine.

Not trying to start anything, or even trying to stop you from carrying around a school. I carry around the school in my town because I walk to pick up my daughter. But always remember the stupid Fed law about Gun Free Zones, school falls under that area and it is like a 1000 yard radius or something. I only know about it because it was brought up when I did my own OC report in the Missouri thread. Just be careful that you don't get yourself in trouble, don't want to see a fellow OCer get in trouble is all.

Thank you I just had a friend show me that fed law.. And I will take the precautions.. Does the Oregon CHL protect you against fed law? Cause to my under standing is when you have that you could actually be on school grounds?

oc'd to the alabny AMC theatre to catch a matinee with the kids.
the wife's outfit was not OC friendly and we are still waiting for our CHL's to come in.

on the way out, my son wanted to play a video game. there were 3 to choose from, and 2 were shooting games. of course he picked the police pistol trainer one, which put my strong side exposed.
when we had some trouble with the tokens, the manager noticed but didn't seem to care i was carrying and went on about his business.

walmart was uneventful. i seem to just not notice people staring anymore. im sure i must be catching a few eyes, but i guess i just dont care

There are some caveats on that exemption. Oregon's CHL provides it but other states may not. If I remember correctly, the state license must include a background check.

(B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a firearm—
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;

While out shopping with the wife today, the guy walking by us says to his wife: "he thinks he's John Wayne"
My response (towards my wife): "Oh cool, I'm John Wayne!" (I wish)

OC'd around town in Hood River this weekend. Got out of the truck with my strong side facing a police car just as it drove by. nada. I almost woulda thought a yuppie infested place like that might have given me trouble.

On a side note, saw "Gravity" this weekend. I give it 8 out of 10 stars.

Put on my tact vest and jogging shorts and went for a run (45 min). I stopped into winco and the cashier asked where he could get one.. Bought some bathroom necessities and ran back home. Any one have any good jogging holster recommendations?

I had to take last Friday off work so my wife and I could go get our son from his first job. He started this year as a woodland firefighter for the US Forrest Service; he is on a 15 man crew out of Prineville Oregon. They got laid off Monday at midnight and his car is at our house in Idaho. I carried open the entire trip without problems. Lots of hunters between Ontario and Burns on Hwy 20 and seen numerous deer being taken in for autopsies....lol No comments or concerns.

We are just lucky it still isn't the peak of fire season. They were just cleaning and preping the equipment for next year and finishing of some training while waiting for a fire. It has been a wet couple of weeks so fire danger is low thank heavens.

Still when we start laying off those who serve, protect, that not a good sign is it?

OC into work put it in it's designated spot behind the counter empty holster all day (everyday at work) and OC outta work. Lots of positive question! And mothers are happy as well..

matt, that's neat that you can OC into work and stash your piece.

i find that an open holster is the best conversation starter with the 'UN-GUNNED' public. it seems to send an approachable message that won't offend any one. if i can't carry into someplace, i still wear the empty holster. ... i don't expect anyone to follow me back to my truck.

enough with the polite banter and to contribute to THE OC REPORT: the wife and i OC'd Saturday to the Albany fire station tours with our kids and out to run a few errands. lotta people and kids in arms reach and no comments or looks. :)
the jaws of life demo was impressive.

Curious - if you can store it at work, why they don't allow you to carry it? Is it the perceived negative visual impact?

Presume the stored gun is accessible to you and hope it is safe from unauthorized users.
