Been out shopping the last few days: Cabela's, Surplus Ammo, Tactical Supply, Quantico, Rainier Arms, Wholesale Sports, Wal*Mart.... all low on ammo or out. No mention of my firearm....

Late breakfast at Dennys here in lacey. Everyone is being nice, no comments or looks at all. And I have to admit, for me I look kinda raggedly...

Lat night at the Mcdonalds on 15th st in Auburn was Mcteacher night. LOL. So I figured I woudl support my kids school by having dinner there. It was me and the 2 kidos and the wifey. I went in opencarry of course, and it was packed.

I ordered, and sat down, no issue. I even went to get drinks and know several parents saw, as well as the school staff that was there helping out no issue at all. I did get several looks by concerend parents, and the principal made an attempt to see how we were doing.

Not anything anyone can do. Good time there with no issue.

Here we go again??

Noticed this sign over the weekend at Cochrane Memorial Park in Yelm:

2013-02-09_16-31-06_493_zpsb6ee8981.jpg

I saw the ubiquitous “No Weapons” provision under Y.M.C. 9.68.040 and after a little digging, here is the text of that portion of the city code:

9.68.040 Weapons and fireworks restricted. It is unlawful to shoot, fire or explode any firearm, fireworks, firecracker, torpedo or explosive of any kind or to carry any firearm or shoot or fire any air gun, bow and arrow, or BB gun or use any slingshot in any park without the written consent of the city council. (Ord. 908 § 2, 2009; Ord. 213 § 11(D), 1977). From http://www.codepublishing.com/WA/yelm/

The bolded/underlined portion is my edit, to highlight the portion I believe to be noncompliant with RCW 9.41.290 (preemption).

I emailed Mayor Ron Harding [ronh@ci.yelm.wa.us] this morning regarding this, and will post up the reply (when/if I get one) here. Hopefully this doesn’t turn in to another “Oak Harbor”, but if it does then the next City Council meeting(s) are February 12th (short notice) and February 26th at 6PM, held in the Yelm Public Safety Building, 206 McKenzie Ave SE, Yelm, WA 98597.

I have been to that park dozens of time, and have never noticed the sign (I’m not saying it was new, I just didn’t notice it). Another gentleman that was there walking his dog commented on my OC and pointed out the sign, saying that he CC’s, but had left it in his car because he thought the sign meant he couldn’t carry. I gave him a pamphlet, pointed out RCW 9.41.290 and briefly explained preemption, and told him I would be contacting the city about the matter and encouraged him to do the same. He thanked me and we parted ways.

I may be able to make one or more of those meetings. I'll just have to see if my wife will be able to take my daughter to ballet. Why do they have to be on Tuesday's?

shopped around lacey fredmeyers for a bit, picked up the new bond movie (VERY excited to sit down and watch that one later) no issues, didnt seem to get any stare-downs, which is a big bonus.

also stopped in at olympic cards and comics, they were very nice as always, and it was as if my FN didnt even exist. :)

all in all a very positie OC experience.

I just found a reasonably priced truck to replace my 95 Chevy that somebody was nice enough to total. Found a 95 Dodge 2500 SLT 4X4 with 8L V10 for $4500 out the door at Titus-Will on Martin Way in Lacey. The sales MGR on the way out asked what I had (Metro Arms 1911), and then he had to one-up me. He traded a $600 rifle for a $1600 Kimber 1911. Also don't forget to do business with another board member in Lakewood for car repair, good work and fair prices:

Forward Motion Performance, located at 10529 Lakeview ave Suite A&B in Lakewood WA is a 2A supporting OC carry friendly business who will welcome you and your gun. Feel free to call, If I don't answer please leave a message and I will get right back to you ASAP. 253-324-6690

Been carrying everywhere since I got out.(edit: out of the Army!) Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, shopping and what not. The only person to give me a hard time was my uncle who came by to vist from the east side today. He was shocked that I keep one in the chamber. I calmly explained to him that that is a safe and accepted way to carry a 1911.

You may want to edit your post to reflect what it is you "got out" of. Some that don't know better may think it was prison.

Don't know too many who would get out of prison that list location at Fort Lewis, WA unless they were imprisoned in the Stockade at Fort Lewis!
