Its not the OCing. Its all the boating and canoeing accidents. Why, entire gun collections were lost when the boat or canoe momentarily overturned. The rash of losses was curiously coincident with the forum figuring out the government was probably monitoring this forum. How about that? Probably a government conspiracy. :)

Ed is the only one that doesn't have that problem. Since he can walk on water, his canoe never flips over

Welcome SpringXD45! I've been out of the loop for about a week so I just saw your post. I hope you can join us for an OC lunch on Saturday January 5 at Vinny's on Wards Rd. Us locals have been derelict on our meetings since this summer, so I hope you can make it out for our first meeting in a while. :)

Another question I have is I tried to search information on CHP on here and cant really find information. If any of you all know where any classes are or any website I can find that can help me. Also I have heard that you can take a online safety course for CHP. Is this true? Kind of seems a little scetchy!

Thanks Allen

lol what do you mean? Im just trying to find a class where I can be "instructed" by a person about conceal carry. I'd like to conceal it and OC so I would have two options. Hope I didnt offend you on this OC site.

Don't worry about it Allen. I think you'll fit in Va just fine anyway.
Jmelvin will explain why everyone is waiting for the fireworks...which aren't coming.:lol:

BTW, Proshooter owns Proactive shooters or whatever it's called. A little drive for you but he's top notch....or you can take a hunters safety course online through DGIF, which will qualify you for a CHP and it's free.
Don't waste your time or money on any other online course.

Wow I've been ignoring my thread for some time! December's been busy, but I've still been OCing all over with no issue. The wifester and I tried out 2 new spots today Wasabi (on Candlers Mtn Rd for dinner) and The Spot Eatery (on Timberlake by Big Lots for lunch). I OCed in both and of course had no issue at all and I think both will be added to our list of regular dining spots. I'll prod the ol' brain for other new recent OC experiences and share them as I recall them.

** Hey moderators, would you care to merge the other Lynchburg thread with this one? Thanks!

First time OCing around lynchburg today. My girlfriend was very nervous the whole entire time and we kind of argued a little about it. :banghead: but she came around and stopped being so nervous. She was just scared of someone saying something and making a scene. I OCed in walmart, target, michaels, best buy and old navy with no problem. Had some strange looks but all was good and I think I'm getting more comfortable with OCing. I heard someone say behind me hey that's an XDS and I turned around and me another guy talked about getting one. That made me feel a little better about OCing as well. This site is awesome and has helped a lot of people! WOO HOO!

It's easy huh? :) You might be surprised by how often you end up talking guns with folks who just happen to notice you carry. I've been carrying in this town for 5.5 years and another 2.5 in Phoenix, AZ and my negative experiences have been limited to a handful, which in the grand scheme of things weren't any major problem. I've also OCed some in WV, NC, OH, KY and GA with no issue at all. If people notice, they generally just don't care.

I had the same issue with my wife she was very nervous the first few times I OC'ed especially around our 4 year old. We even argued a bit as well it was a bit funny now that we look back at it. I have not had any issues other then a few questions and looks in general. Now she is use to me carrying and even reminds me to carry while we are getting ready to go somewhere haha.

I meant to share this last week, but it slipped my mind: The wifester and I had dinner over at the new T Room (2nd location of the Texas Inn & Chili) off of Greenview Drive, where we've eaten a few times now. I was OCing as usual and nobody seemed the least bit bothered. As one of the families dining there got up one of the guys spoke up and said "Hey, thanks for open carrying!" Having my mouth full of a cheesy western, I just nodded my head and smiled, while giving a thumbs up. Although I didn't see him or others in his party carrying it was a nice sentiment to hear just the same.

A couple weeks prior I was out in Bedford getting a new rifle at their WallyWorld and in just the time I was standing in the sporting goods section I noticed two other OCers in the store, that weren't together. One man OCing was shopping with his family, and the other was an older guy just doing some shopping. Although it's not particularly odd to see other OCers while shopping, I usually don't see two separate parties in the same store within 10 minutes of each other.

That same week I was also looking for some new shoes and ended up chatting about what I was carrying with a couple guys over at Super Shoes on Candler's Mountain Road. I've had several good interactions with folks since I last posted here, but thought I might share a few random ones I remembered while I had it in mind.

Be nice to see some of you other Lynchburgers post in here occasionally too! :)

the wifester and I spent the day being bums around the house, but this evening we headed over to Texas Roadhouse on Wards Rd for dinner. Of course we had no issue, but as we walked out we noticed another couple walking out of the restaurant and through the parking lot and the guy was OCing what appeared to be a medium size revolver of some sort. They were too far away to say anything, and I sure wasn't going to run up on them, but it wasn't anyone I recall seeing 'round here before. Good to see "strange" OCers around.

I have been carrying around as normal nothing new or odd to report. I need to hit the range again here soon it's been awhile and I have some new ammo to try.

Yesterday while OCing at lunch at Vinny's on Wards Rd a gentleman behind me in the pay line asked me what I was carrying and we chatted about it for a little bit. Last night the wifester and I ate at Wasabi off of Candler's Mountain Road. While seated we nearly had another OCer sit beside us at the hibachi table, but the gentleman ended up choosing a different table that would better accomodate the high chair for their youngster. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to say hello due to timing issues, but it was good to see another OCer while out eating.

Otherwise there's little to report. I OC and people don't care. Works for me. :)

Although not directly related to OCing I have been working with a couple guys at church regarding getting their first handguns to carry. Both already know how to shoot, so I'm not starting from square one by any stretch. If User ever holds another of his deadly force seminars I'll highly recommend it to them and others I know. It's reassuring to me to see people getting interested in at least having the option of carrying a firearm should they decide to.
