Never heard of Hamline University before, but this kid needs a psych evaluation to even get reinstated from summary suspension after suggesting that tragedies like Virginia Tech might be avoided or mitigated by allowing students to go about armed on campus. Definite nut case, eh? He is to hear the administration tell it.

If it's true as described, it makes perfect sense. Accuse anyone with a pro-gun viewpoint of being mentally defective and whisk them off the campus. That gets rid of both the message and the messenger, and destroys the messenger's credibility in the process, since he has now been marginalized as a "nut" by the authorities. Even his own friends may wonder about him, now. They'll ask him questions like, "There must have been something you said that was crazy."

Joe Biden tried this stunt during one of the debates last summer, if you recall, when a youtube questioner asked Biden how Biden planned to protect the questioner's right to bear arms, Biden accused him of being crazy.

I may not agree totally with what the student had to say BUT I do agree that he had the right to voice his opinion. After all the first amendmentdoes coves this. There was no threats. College and university is supposed to be a place where differing opinions can get together and discuss them. One of the problems with some of our education systems is that it is based more on repeating information than teaching people how to think logically.

Funny how Hamiline is reacting to this as they are one of the more widely known law and political science colleges in the state. I've been there a few times, but for purely recreational reasons, lol - that was a long time ago.
