"Local and mine industry stakeholders successfully lobbied EPA to keep the area off the Superfund National Priorities List, partly out of concern for the region’s tourist industry. Instead, cleanup efforts have been coordinated by a volunteer consortium called ARSG, the Animas River Stakeholders Group."

"The seeds of trouble for Gold King were sown in 1996, when Sunnyside was permitted to shut down its treatment plant— an effective but expensive way to stop pollution from mine discharges — and switch to the less costly method of simply plugging the mine works with concrete."

Now in Flint they have poisoned drinking water and its illegal not to pay the bill for this tainted good and you can get your children ripped away for that.

Only the government can come up with such stupid scenarios.

It's amusing that the D's blame the R's the R's blame the D's yet it isn't an R&D problem it is a government problem.

quote: Think the Flint water crisis is bad? It's only "the tip of the iceberg," says Erin Brockovich. the environmental activist explained lead-laced water has also been found in Sebring, Ohio; Louisiana; and possibly Wisconsin. "I can tell you for certain this is a national crisis that we're not getting ready to face—this crisis is already here,".... The Daily Beast reports Brockovich actually helped expose the water crisis in Flint after residents reached out to her a year ago. Flint is just one of "hundreds of cities, towns, and community water systems that are failing," she wrote in a Facebook post on Jan. 20, 2015. unquote.

Meanwhile a year in advance city officials buy clean water for employees while not telling their victims whats going on letting them be poisoned willfully.

and the governor has his hands in front of his mouth in shock and awe that this happened out of the blue on his watch...sigh

One thing is for sure if this was private folks poisoning others the state would be acting a lot differently.

ya think...lol

week or so after the flint situation was announced my tap water developed an obvious 'pinkish' hue which the chemist (told me the chemical name but it was meanlingless to me) stated was a pipe stabilizer...

Of course, the nice government agency sent you a zero-balance bill for the period they supplied you water you wouldn't want to drink, right?

Guess no Flint city employees live in Flint and drink the water at home? How much money did the City save on this plan? Understand reason is paying for retired City employees pensions and health insurance - MI has been running City for several years - MI law does not allow towns to go bankrupt and re-negotiate retiree benefits - all GM's fault for moving out of democrat and union destroyed town.
